It's time for us to catch up on NWA TNA it's been a while. This is episode 44 and 45. This one features lots of Disco Inferno. In fact he takes over the entire TNA show one episode.

It’s funny because if you go and watch Brian Zyans old WCW PPV reviews from when disco wrestled and his matches with Dean malenko and billy Kidman Brian said something like “I’ve been conditioned to believe disco sucked, but watching these old PPVs he really doesn’t, he caries himself well, he’s good at getting heat. Disco was just a victim of wrong time wrong place, this gimmick would’ve gotten over huge in the modern Indy scene.” And I can’t help but agree considering how over no way Jose was on NXT and it’s basically a mix of disco inferno and Adam rose’s gimmicks
@TheRustedShackleford
@TheRustedShackleford 2 жыл бұрын
@@thehorrorhound6575 dude was definitely a good wrestler. It's just that on one channel you have The Rock, Stone Cold, Hogan pretty soon. Switch over to TNA and you have Disco and Slapnuts headlining shows. Just can't compete. All that said l, the undercard was where TNA shined for a long time. They didn't have shit for main events but they 100% had the best young talent at the time.
@thehorrorhound6575
@thehorrorhound6575 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRustedShackleford agreed. I fuckin love raven and it was dumb not to put the belt on him in 03’ when the entire arena was calling for it despite him being heel. And I love Jarrett I think he is a king at getting heel heat, but If hogan, flair, sting, undertaker, DDP, stone cold, and the rock, hbk, were S tier, guys like Jarrett, triple H, and Booker T, were A tier at the time, they never had that thing that REALLY connected them to the fans. They were fine to build a main event scene around but Jarrett wasn’t flair and constantly having the belt was upsetting people. The ONLY people who ever benefitted from Jarretts Uber long ego reigns were AJ styles and Christian when they were the ones to finally win it off him, and kudos to Jarrett for seeing Styles and Christian as the main event guys no one else did, but still he sacrificed guys like raven, rhyno, and Monty brown to get there.

One man gang changed to Hakeem, Tony Atlas changed to Saba Simba, Terry Taylor changed to the Red Rooster. Changing your character doesn't mean you're going to be the next big star of wrestling. Most times it's just as bad if not worse than the previous gimmick. Austin and Taker made it because they had that rare"It factor" that only a select few posses and they finally got to show it off. Disco no matter what new gimmick he was giving was always going to be seen as lower midcard at best and no-one would take him seriously.
@thehorrorhound6575
@thehorrorhound6575 2 жыл бұрын
Other wrestlers have changed gimmicks and saved their careers. Hardcore holly is not bombastic Bob, Al Snow is not lief Cassidy, Raven is not Johnny polo. Sometimes a change of gimmick is good too, but you gotta commit to it, you have to change your move set, your ring attire, your promo style. Disco didn’t. He still talked the same, looked the same, and wrestled the same, but “he’s not disco anymore we swear, anyway village people elbow time.”

You made a road rash reference on the last episode lol…but on PlayStation? That’s so odd I didn’t know of there being road rash on Ps one. I definitely remember road rash but for Sega Genesis it was the greatest game ever it’s what made me want to ride when I turned 18 in early 2000’s lol. I was cut off by cars 4 times in 3 years (ironically 14 years into riding), and it isn’t as fun as it seemed in that game haha. I also have some questions how do you use a chain and not throw your balance off haha. Firstly you’d obviously have to use your left hand (throttle is on the right grip for those unaware). And since the clutch is on the left lever, you would have to not only keep your balance while swinging a chain with your left hand but you also have to stay in the same gear lol. I’ve thrown plenty of spare change at cars that have almost made me crash, but that’s a little different than swinging a steel chain lol.

Every time you do that Jeff Hardy voice I always think about how they say american accents are the original accents of the UK before they began to intentionally change the pronunciation of words.

Disco Inferno, just like Jeff Jarrett, couldn't draw one dime. I guess there is some mutual sympy between these two.

TNA back then was really a combination of every major company that was bought out by WWE. Gifted Glen Gilberti was called Gifted because its a heel lie. Sanders reminds me of J Roc from Trailer Park Boys. D Lo probably had a better run in TNA then WWE. That Sky High into a neckbreaker was awesome.
