I am shocked, appalled, mystified, taken aback, blown away, astonished, amazed, and aghast that the Browns (as in the Brown family, not the team) would skimp and cheap out on...well, anything.

This is similar to what happened at Goodison Park (home of Everton) in 1994 before a Premier League match vs Chelsea. Like this game, the match between Everton & Chelsea was important though for a much different reason as both teams were only 3 points from dropping into the relegation zone & had gotten off to terrible starts to the 1994-95 season. A loss for either club would put them in that position & face an uphill climb to stay in the league. About an hour before the match kicked off, a freak snowstorm hit the Liverpool area that dumped about 4 inches of snow onto the field. For some context, it rarely snows in the UK & if it does, it is usually in small amounts. Snowstorms are very rare in that part of the world due to the mild climate. Then as quickly as the snow came, it stopped right after the teams finished warm ups which should have given the grounds crew a chance to at least push the snow off the field to make it presentable for a soccer match. However because the grounds crew had no equipment at all to remove the snow due to what I mentioned above about the climate (along with the referee not being able to get a orange/yellow ball) the match was postponed by a day to Monday afternoon instead of Sunday. Because the rescheduled match was on a work day, only 10,000 fans showed up as opposed to the 40,000 Everton was expecting if the match had taken place at its normal Sunday afternoon time slot. The made up match was a thriller with Chelsea winning 4-3. After this debacle, the Premier League mandated that every club have either under-soil heating or train their grounds crew on how to clear snow. They also approved the use of the yellow ball in inclement conditions & it became a regular feature of Premier League matches played between November-March in 2004 when Nike made its famous "T90" yellow & blue ball.

The 84 Bengals finished 8-8 after this game they won four in a row

The '84 Bengals were the literal epitome of mediocrity. Not just because of their 8-8 record but because of the perfectly mediocre way they achieved it. Not only did they score exactly as many points as they allowed, but their points scored/allowed per game total just happened to also be the exact league average that season.

This reminds me of a minor league hockey game I went to a few years ago where they went to a shootout with the game tied after just 1 period because the Zamboni stopped working properly and they didn't have a backup.

This unofficial Official Jaguar Gator 9 historian will remind everyone you made a video about a similar issue with the grounds crew at the Meadowlands during a Steelers-Jets game in 2003.

Also had the 1988 playoff at Riverfront where Seahawks DL Joe Nash kept faking knee injuries to stop our No-Huddle offense.

That's another level of stupid; even for Mike Brown (I think by 1984, he was doing more stuff than Paul was)

Just a side note: Riverfront Stadium 🏟️ was also known as Cinergy Corporation Field, the parent company of Cincinnati Gas and Electric. Now, Cinergy Corporation is owned under its current parent company, Duke Energy Corporation, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. 👌

There was a 2000 Bengals game vs the Jaguars at the new Paul Brown Stadium playing the Jaguars and it was a blizzard you could hardly see the field

Wasn’t halftime longer back then in 84? They had more time I think.

I think both Cincinnati and the Bengals share some blame here. Both entities knew there would be some wintry mess, so someone should've definitely had another device ready. Clearing out snow off 120 yards takes a lot of time with 2 devices, so having only one is really chancing it.

Riverfront Stadium was also the site of a tragic iincident occurring on December 3, 1979 where eleven people lost their lives in a stampede.

The Who Concert, which had festival seating that would subsequently be banned in Cincinnati after the tragedy.

What a farce for a video! There's lots more recent NFL games that could have been covered, so why pick a game that was played way back before you were born, in a stadium that was imploded in 2002? Riverfront Stadium wasn't THAT cursed, the Bengals won the Freezer Bowl there on January 10, 1982 to put them into Super Bowl XXIII.
