Sgr A is not the black hole. The supermassive black hole is called Sgr A* -- (pronounced Sagittarius A-star). Sgr A is complex radio source that consists of three overlapping radio sources: a supernova remnant called Sgr A East, the supermassive black hole Sgr A*, and a spiral shaped cloud of gas and dust called the Minispiral that is called Sgr A West.

3rd theory for planets near pulsars (before 20 minutes): they came from elsewhere, wanderers attracted by the pulsar's gravity and stayed around for the time being, potentially kicked out of orbit of other stars elsewhere during some event.

You should do a story a companion story to this one. There's a real mystery in astronomy in that they used to make astronomical recordings on these gigantic plates and the naval observatory produced thousands of these plates and they have so much data on them but it's takes years to decode it all so they're in the process of doing this and a peculiarity seems to keep popping up where stars that were in these plates that were recorded in the '50s and '60s are no longer there now. We have found hundreds of stars that are just missing. Vanished with no trace. They're not double images it's not because of bad focusing these are physical stars that were there that are now gone

35:35 how can something with an inescapable gravity use its gravity to propel something?
@ManMountainMetals
@ManMountainMetals Ай бұрын
It's like an eddy current. The black ⚫️ hole is moving. It's not close enough to pull the other star into its event horizon where its gravity becomes inescapable. But close enough to alter its trajectory with its powerful gravity. Image marbles on a 🛌 bed. Wherever you push down with your hand, that's a gravity well like a black hole. When you push down, it affects the marbles. The closer the marble, the more it's affected. Marbles close enough to the depression caused by your hand are drawn in. ✨️ hope that helped some.

@@ManMountainMetals so it does reach its gravity it just escapes it which was impossible apparently.

@mikechar17 it is called escape velocity for that very reason. The distance you can get to a black hole depends on the size of the black hole and how close you want to avoid being torn apart by tidal forces, magnetic fields, or the black hole's angular momentum. For an average-sized black hole, a safe distance is estimated to be 50-70 miles. The only way to get close to a black hole without being torn apart is to fly by at escape velocity.
