@@jmm8476 Agree. This is interesting as marketing but if we’re going to consider this ‘avant garde,’ it’s nowhere near as deep as classic avant-garde stuff like Negativland, or avant-pop stuff like Laurie Anderson, etc. The idea is cool, and the music is okay, but it’s pretty shallow.

Starting with basic health and wealth platitudes, culminating in ascending beyond your physical form (leaving all your net worth to the cult to help others achieve ascension, of course). But this guy really pulled it off way beyond what I imagined!

That was fun and clever.... this reminds me of when i was a volunteer at a community radio station in the 80s-90s. Lots of recorded material came in all the time and some of it was odd concept stuff like the Church of the SubGenius. It was perfect for late night programming, make everybody scratch their heads a bit. Also, as a child in the 70s i vividly recall walking through shopping centers with my parents to the ghostly strains of Muzak...Montovani pumped in everywhere. Was it all a dream?

The video viewer portion & the 3 playback buttons below it of the physical packaging remind me of Tool’s initial packaging release of their album Fear Inoculum. The day it went on sale was I believe the same day that they also released their entire catalogue on the major streaming platforms such as Spotify & Apple Music. That week their album also beat out Taylor Swift’s newly released album for the top selling album. I really enjoy the tracks on this Windstar album. The audio & video samples as well as the synthesized sonic parts sound authentically from the 80’s. I like the genre bending & blending of various styles which give it a fresh & unique feel. This sounds like something that could be a deep dig from the music education part of Emil Amos’s excellent podcast named Drifter’s Sympathy.
