Thank you for clearly mentioning the shortcomings-excellent unbiased review! I'm looking to buy my first tripod ever. I'm primarily a photographer, looking to shoot nightscapes, timelapses, and long exposures. I think this a good choice, But I'm also considering getting a normal tripod and separately getting a ball head. What would you advise?

If you’re mostly a photographer, then a ball head would be the best choice! It provides more functionality with a much smaller weight/footprint

why not just pull out the center column, flip the camera and get it close to the ground? that's standard with my older Befree Live tripod.

A crane and a gimbal are probably the best option for filming a movie!😮 not a travel tripod, built mainly for photography!!!
