Being stills-oriented (primarily MFT format), I rarely need a tripod, but for those rare occasions (certain macros and super-long exposures), I got the Befree GT XPRO Carbon and it's been great. It's quick and easy to deploy/stow, its 496 ball head is fuss-free to use (I don't do much panning video, but I don't think it would be a problem), and it fits inside my big LowePro (ProTactic AW450 II) pack. The only annoying aspect is that it's not Arca-compatible, so I had to get PD's Capture Dual Plate. That 3-Way fluid head looks a lot bulkier and it doesn't look like that 'pod has the XPRO's 90° swivel center column (a huge plus), so I guess I'll be sticking with what I have, but thanks for the review. Agreed on vertical video--amateur hour! I hate those blurry side bars plus I feel like I'm looking through a crack in a door! Our eyes are side-by-side, not vertically stacked, and using a phone as a primary viewing device is silly!

Thanks for the happy comment! I use this alongside a ball head. This is slightly bulkier than the ball head, but I hardly notice. It's nice to feather in slight framing nuances which my ball head struggles to do. Especially with a 70-200 or my 200-600. I'll check out the XPRO, though!
