Taken from the new album 'Dark Matters' by the Stranglers (out 10th Sept 2021):
slinky.to/Dark...
Lyrics:
You wake me up one morning and the world has changed
It’s war and the Martians have arrived
The world goes in meltdown and I miss you
The world goes in meltdown and I miss you
Earthquakes may happen
And the heavens open
If something’s gonna kill me
It might as well be love
One more gone to join the legions far away
Our ranks are getting thinner by the day
Our glory’s far behind us and I miss you
Our glory’s far behind us and I miss you
Innocence has left this house
To wander among the stars
To light the path before us so we can see
Earthquakes may happen
And the heavens open
If something’s gonna kill me
It might as well be love
Earthquakes may happen
And the heavens open
If something’s gonna kill me
It might as well be love
Might as well be love
If something’s gonna kill me
If something’s gonna kill me
It might as well be love

I am a 53 year old man now, and I can't imagine how I would have gotten through growing up without the stranglers in my life. The first time I saw them live was at the Showering Pavilion in shepton mallet, and it is the most memorable gig of my life. Thank you for all the years of pleasure listening, anticipating new releases, and general fun ploughing through the 'S' section in record stores looking for rarities. God bless Dave, and all of you.

Intriguing new song and lyrical sentiment but coupled with a truly disturbing video which reminds us all that - almost 4 decades on from when all this was a genuine possibility and the spectre of nuclear annihilation was forever present - we are nowhere near out of the woods yet the way this world is going right now......all it takes is one stubborn itch that refuses to be scratched, and before you know it.....

'because that way if we get arrested for inciting a riot we can say Dave never said a thing.'...something to that extent. thanks for the memories.

A bit loungey but OK and as usual quite surprising. I remember seeing them in San Francisco in the 80's, everyone there was wanting the punkier stuff and the more the crowd shouted the more they did the opposite, they did a thirty minute version of 'Golden Brown'.

Those that frown upon me and my ICE vehicle can do one.! Seriously, tho, an interesting review and it doesn’t look half bad. I’d love a go on one and I’m, sure they are good fun. However at that price, the long charge times and lack of infrastructure. I’m out.
