Hugh Cornwell is such a nice gentleman. Met him 2 times in Vienna.
@ScottishTeeVee3 жыл бұрын
Was he on holiday or playing a gig?
@Chevalblanc Жыл бұрын
@@ScottishTeeVeeHe played in Vienna after his departure from the Stranglers at least two or three times. But he wasn't really happy due to the small interest.

Hugh Cornwell, after reading his bio I was even more impressed. Two degrees in chemistry, no wonder comes across as such an intellectual. Meanwhile Julie Brown is yabbering. I haven't seen her since 1984-85 when she came to MTV. Whoa, that's pressing in on 40 years.

So handsome and refined here. He wasn't really a gritty, swearing punk, he just fitted into the genre of music they were trying to be a part of at the time. It doesn't sound like he wanted to leave the stranglers here, the decision must have been made as it got closer to 1990.
@theobjectivethinker644 жыл бұрын
Oh he was in 1976/77 they were very much Punk and influenced the genre, but by 1985 he had become dazzled by the opulence of the 80's.
@treasurehunteruk97184 жыл бұрын
@@theobjectivethinker64 The whole music genre had changed by the 80s so they had to morph into something else to survive. European Female and Midnight Summer Dream were soft pop stuff.

@@user-eb8mi3xi5f I love JJ and Hugh, but the only thing I don't like is the use of the F word. Even now - and JJ is almost 70 - he still uses it at interviews. He doesn't need to. My grandad would never have used this language, and I would have been horrified if he did. It's not big to F all the time.
@user-eb8mi3xi5f3 жыл бұрын
@@treasurehunteruk9718 He does? Well I feel like his temper is now mellowed out little bit. F word is kinda prevalent-I am not saying using it these days is right, and it censored too haha. Also I am just new to this band actually(The Cure is my first experience of post punk, goth and new wave), but I got such a big impression that Jean's fierce aura released. I thought they would make very rough music but it doesn't sound that rough. Hugh is such a backbone to the band. And he's handsome too :)
