PR’s finest moment with the Stranglers . I saw them at Norwich they were brilliant and last year in France with Bas on lead vocals and these guys still rock . They should be treasured.

Paul Roberts is fantastic here. He's a superb singer and should have stayed to reap the benefits of all his hard graft through the lean years.

love norfolk coast track, paul roberts sings this best… he brought something different to the band. People never like change but thats how life is! Don`t be `stuck in the past` & compare him with hugh cornwall...Who left when he could ve played safe & continued with something he was bored with for `the money`..he didn't and good for him….We all have to move on with our lives!! Incidently when i met hugh in 79 he was a bit of an arse basically….J.J , dave were very nice…I went to Scotland to see them in 1978 roundhouse & Brighton & in 1979, aberdeen, glasgow, bingly hall, the latter on the black & white tour…they were great & i nearly got the sack from my job for having time off to do it & my parents didn't speak to me for weeks properly….ha ha…to be honest stranglers were a lifeline away from stuff that was going on in my family!!

Tomorrow night, Newcastle! I'm so excited, it'll be my first time seeing them. I adore their newer songs, they're better than I would've thought before I heard them.

@FP51DPO JJ is just too cool. No matter how he hashes it, he's great. Greenfield would be great as well, without question. I'm 62 and have followed The Stranglers since 1978 or 1979. They sound better than ever now. I saw quite a few bad concerts by them with Hugh Cornwall. That never stopped me from going though. JJ has been so influential with his bass-driven rock .

Is this the best Stranglers song ?
@MADALANMAC15 жыл бұрын
You are of course correct Paddy, it was Time to Die they opened with. And it was dire. I loved the early stuff with Hugh on vocals but remember The Stranglers had died on their arse when he left. Paul joined and for all his perceived faults the man has a voice and stage presence. Look at the above performance, especially the crowd not enjoying themselves, ha,, then remember Glasgow, folk standing around or just leaving. Your rose tinted specs must be 2 inches thick mate. That concert was rank.

No they started with Norfolk Coast. Time to Die was played at the beginning of encore 100%

My missus always goes with me to Stranglers concerts, Madness too, not to mention The Specials earlier this year. Loads of women at all. Maybe it's just Glasgow but the split is probably 70/30 men to women. Go to see the Beautiful South and you can reverse that to 90/10 'cause they're pish. lol

Saw them in Glasgow last night and they started with this. Jeez it was rank rotten without Paul's vocals. JJ is still kidding himself he can sing like Mr Roberts. He murdered a few more Roberts classics before the night was out. On the plus side, it made Baz seem quite accomplished. Set the tone for the worst Stranglers gig I've ever been to. The only time I've ever seen folk walk out of one of their concerts and not come back. Really poor show.

Frankly, Paul's prescence is sorely missed; Baz is on the right track but he really must step to the forefront; It doesn't hurt to see Dave and even Jet try their hands on lead vox on some new material and not leave JJ carrying the lion's share!

I really like this album from start to finish, escpecially "I've been wild", I can relate to it as a middle aged man in chase of the constant good time. As much as I love The Stranglers I doubt I'd ever go to a concert, at least not in the UK, theres no one there but dudes. I'm not bringing a lady to that pack of rats. And what is it about UK concerts and being all guys anyway? Are you guys to cheap to pay for a date? It's got to be a cultural thing because I've seen it in other bands clips.
@Captain_Rhodes2 жыл бұрын
UK concerts are not all guys. Some bands have more males fans thats all. Bands like the stranglers and Iron Maiden etc. Dont assume Stranglers fans wouldnt welcome women. There are artists that attract mostly women too. Take that for example.

@MADALANMAC ..well firstly, followed the Band livewise since 1978 Glasgoqw apollo, so reckon a know a thing or 2 bout theier live performances,. so know a bad gig when a see one!!..DONT have 2inch thick specs pal,..wot good would they do??...if your talkin dire gigs ;suggest you cast ur mind back to the mid-90'scoz a luv the Band,,a went to all,..Glasgow barrowlands,...place half empty, total apathy 1000 times worse than the last gig Glasgow o2..if u didna enjoy fair enuff,..but PLENTY did

@katoness I'm a girl (on my boyfs account) and I fucking love The Stranglers. Geezers band? Bullshit, you think all of us like to listen to songs about flowers and kittens? No offence to ya like.
@paddymacIV15 жыл бұрын
..sorry my friend..but I have to totally disagree here,...firstly, I was at that show, and they started with Time 2 die,..not NC,..all about opinions and think JJ is FAR better at NC than the guy above, JJ's song, sings as intended, acoustic version best! most of the Stranglers hardcore(90% plus) much prefer JJ/Baz on Vox. How much popularity did they lose when Roberts wsa there??
@CrankCase0811 жыл бұрын
No more heroes any more. They are just not what they used to be. I saw them at Brunel University in 1978 and that pissed over the current standard. The new vocalist here is just.... a vocalist. Meh!
