in terms of ick management & garlic in food, it doesn’t work. it’s a flavor enhancer for finnicky eaters. in terms of QT, i always do an observation for 1 week without copper, then slowly add copper in smaller increments over time.

Fishes with strong immune systems usually can fight off the ich. Guess the garlic isn’t a cure but will get them to keep eating and keep up with immune system!

I stopped copper treating fish in Quarantine now because it stresses fish out too much. There is ich in my tank even after running fishless for 100 days and properly quarantine all fish… they still got ich in the tank a few days after introducing. Instead of stressing out, I just dosed the main display with 3% peroxide at 1ml per 10g daily for a week. Now if the fish show spots, I dose peroxide immediately and spots are always gone within a day. I just feel copper is like putting a healthy human on chemotherapy! I can’t imagine it’s good to give copper to fish. Good luck. I killed 2 batches of expensive fish before learning peroxide method. I even used a Hanna copper checker and went by the book…

Will definitely look into this method.Thank you for sharing!!

Hello, I agree with you about the lack of info on these tanks. I ordered mine and started thinking about a fleece roller. Do you mind telling me which roller you tried out? How did it fit?
@whatthereef6 ай бұрын
Klir drop in filter fleece just slides right in where the filter sock goes. It works but the sensor is super sensitive, I go back and fourth with it

got it. I decided to get some reef diapers when I get my tank. Will try those out. Thank you.@@whatthereef

Did you put a lid on the tank after the fish jumped? What do you think about letting the fish hang in QT for a few days and establish eating before starting treatment? I am newer to QT so working through it as well.
@whatthereef7 ай бұрын
Yes this time I am letting the fish acclimate better making sure it’s eating. I would do garlic in the food and get it eating well. If you don’t see any disease I wouldn’t do any copper, just keep eye on the fish for a week or so. You got the right idea!

Try the Hybrid tank transfer method for QT i’ve had 100% success rate with this method i also tried copper and the fish would always die trust me its all about the Hybrid tank transfer method

Hey man, what type of copper are you using? I’m assuming copper safe with it being 2.5 ppm I also qt my fish, I personally think it’s a must but to each their own. I personally like using an airstone and a cheap wave maker in my qt tanks. Do you have a copper checker? I use Hannah copper checkers and before I put any fish into it I’ll dose the tank with 1ml of copper and see how much copper is in the tank. This way I know if I’m adding to much at a single time. I’ll be happy to explain more on how I do it if you’re interested!

Air stone is probably a good idea! I do have the Hanna copper checker as well. Honestly I think I rushed the acclimation process and shocked this poor guy…. Setting up again and taking it slow with the copper power.

Appreciate it. I’ll definitely reach out if I come into any problems!

Saweeet!!! Good luck man! I really think that is the best way to add fish to the tank. By the way your hybrid scopas is insane looking!! It sucks loosing fish but sometimes they are just to sick from the beginning. Maybe velvet killed the new one!
@stevenelliott34447 ай бұрын
The reason you lost your fish in the quarantine because you dose too much copper for that size tank that looks like a 10 gallon tank and the dosage amount that you was talking about is for a 20 gallon tank
@Bayareasvc7 ай бұрын
Bro get a copper checker from Hanna first 🤷🏼♂️
@whatthereef7 ай бұрын
I do have one! I underestimated how powerful copper is.. it was at a super low ppm. Next time going to try a different method this is just too intense for me lol
@Bayareasvc7 ай бұрын
@@whatthereef Don’t give up now. That’s the worst thing to do. Just low dose the copper up for a week till desired levels. You can tell when the fish start to stress at the higher levels that’s when you change water every day with water thats pre mixed to the same level of copper and temp in a small brute. Like a 10 gallon with the caster kit just for quarantine use with the copper and pazi pro. Also rinse your hands off in a 5 gallon bucket with some RO water before you put your hands in the tank. This will help when you want to mess around in the tank. Good luck with the new tank!

@bradlafley134 good idea with the pre mixed water with same copper level! Appreciate the advice🤝

Never understand why people stress fish with QT, if you buy them from the right place, they will have already been QT'd. I've been keeping marine for 9 years now, never had diseases in any of my tanks 🤷♂️

I would never trust anyone but myself when is comes to QT, I have way too many expensive fish too roll the dice and trust someone elses word on QT..
@adambundy26397 ай бұрын
@jasonclements9290 you say that, but how many people kill fish in QT... like in this video, could at least add a airstone and he probably overdosed the copper... buy the fish from somewhere that QTs fish, then they've already gone through the stress and survived. Buying expensive fish and potentially killing them in QT isn't a option for me... besides, the proper medication for QT'ing fish outweighs the cost of the fish itself... hence why its best done at the supplier in bulk at their loss.
@jacobmills19827 ай бұрын
I couldn’t agree more! QT stresses them out. I dose peroxide to main display when introducing new fish or at the first sign of spots. I no longer kill fish! 👍
