At the Door is a wonderful song and masterpiece. Each time I listened gives me a big nostalgic and melancholic feeling that makes me almost cry.

At first time I listened was like "okay, didn't surprise me... It's great but not wow..." Then I listened again and gets me directly to the heart and think "wait a minute, this is an amazing song and makes me feel something beautiful". Little time later, the incredible video came out and blows my mind. Now At The Door is perfect to me. A masterpiece and the voice of Julián never sounds better, thanks to Rick Rubin. Fucking love you Strokes.

I grew up listening to Arctic Monkeys and it took me ages to discover The Strokes. I love Albert's solo music, it's really euphoric. I realised his song "Lisa" sounds a lot like Chasing Cars though

At first listen I didn't really know how to feel about it but I'm stuck on it since the day it came out !! Funny you mention human sadness, as it did the same to me, on repeat for a few weeks on ! Julian has his little obsession with the end of the world theme as in ize of the world / you only live once, human sadness and at the door.. Great combo I think ! At the door 🚪 of perception. You should definitely give a few more listens to the strokes first albums. Cheers !!!

About the animation in the video at the door: The animation is based on SF movies from the 80 ties, I do recognise scenes from Stargate, The Thing etc. I'll give the Strokes a re- listen, not a big fan. Btw this is a good way to create illustrations and you still can use albums covers teaching us music rock history 😉 Tnx so much for posting my Les Claypool drawing!

You should listen more CRX it's one of the best bands of the new era. The voice of Valensi it's so fucking beautiful. Machinegum are a great band too. Love the nostalgic wave of these.

Julian Casablancas is on fire, i mean, he released Virtue in 2018, he's working on a new Voidz album with Mac DeMarco, he released "Did My Best" on December of 2019 (good as hell), and now a new Strokes album with "At The Door" and that beautiful animation.

I feel Bad Decisions is just to shut up people wanting more "old school the strokes" sounding songs. The music video kinda implies that. ( I still really like the song tho) At The Door must be more what they really wanna do and keep evolving creatively, and I love it, it's beautiful and I can't stop watching the video, and Julian's singing, NNNGHH. 😭💖💖💖 Edit: I forgot to add, I've kinda heard the other songs from the concerts they've been doing, they're not like Bad Decisions. I can't appreciate the songs properly from poorly recorder vids but Ode To The Met sounds like a banger.

No offense, but I kinda don't like the voidz. I've only found one song I could bare and one I liked. To be fair, In My Dreams is one of my favorite songs in general, but the strokes are an all around favorite for me. I find at the door to be like my 3rd favorite song.
