The FRENCH REUNION government should take steps in teaching TAMIL as one of the languages in the schools, because of the huge population, almost 1/3rd of the ISLANDS population. It's also evident to know that the TAMILS don't speak TAMIL fluently any more. It's a mix of the local language dialects. The TAMIL organisations should unite & take steps in teaching TAMIL to the TAMILIIANS of RE UNION ISLANDS.

This is a french territory: learn French. your parents can teach Tamil to their children. If the french government starts teaching all foreign language from foreigners who came to la Reunion.. the entire administration budget of the island would be swallowed. I am not agree with what you say, I am 4th generation Indian. I has take initiative to learn tamil for my personal culture, after to have make my own genealogy. For me, our langage are the créole and the French, we"reunionnais" have a history with this land even if it was not joyful for the ancestors Indian, the slaves even some French and European. In this video, there are not descendant india ( a woman only) which speak, just some foreigner who living here. I find it is damage the video is not subtitles. Sorry my English is not perfect. But on internet people can learn about our island and they can see the diversity of people who came here and make the history this land. It is not good to impose us one vision of things without knowing the history of the Réunion island. It is not villain, it is just what I think

Their schools teach the mother tongue languages of the races in the country like Hindi, Tamil and Punjabi to citizens of Indian ancestry, yet their country still has sufficient funds to administer themselves. By the way Réunion isn't métropolitaine France although it has the same status as one . Réunion is as diverse as Mauritius when it comes to racial demographics so besides learning French, studying the mother tongue language of the races in Réunion (like Tamil and Malagasy) is recommended as to preserve the culture of the races in Réunion. Learning a third mother tongue language wouldn't make Réunion bankrupt. Trust me. J’espère que vous comprendrez
