Cryptic cloak is an incredible bomb. 3 mana for a 3/2 with ward 2 and unblockable is already really good for limited, and then add on top that it is very hard to deal with, repeatable, and in the late game can generate 2-3 creatures a turn, plus the potential upside of flipping your creatures is so much value.

I believe at most, you'd get either 4 cards to your hand and a 1/1 Thopter or 1 card to your hand and a 4/4 Thopter. You couldn't get 5 cards to your hand or a 5/5 Thopter since the 5 cards you drew are the split into 2 piles and one pile goes to your graveyard, which means 5 cards cannot go to either your hand or into creating a 5/5 Thopter.

Got first place at my LGS draft playing Simic. The big bomb, in fact, my pack-1 pick-1 was Case of the Locked Hothouse. Every game where I slammed it, I ran away with the game and won. Being able to play a bunch of lands and creatures off the top was incredible, and it was so easy to Solve it.

Yeah, bombs are a bigger deal here. The uncommons and commons are fairly weak here. You have morph cards next to Anzrag.

Collect Evidence 4 on turn 6 is going to be pretty automatic in Golgari. Remember, all you need is 4 mana's worth of cards in the graveyard. Not 4 total cards.

Isn't Vein Ripper an 8-point swing (opponent loses 4, you gain 4) if it is targeted for removal? Sacrifice a creature to get past Ward = 2 and 2, then removing it is another 2 and 2?

I think this is the first time where I think I've disliked/disagreed with Nizza on an entire mechanic: I think Collect Evidence is just going to be really clunky and hard to make work, especially repeatedly. There just isn't enough self-mill to make things work, in my eyes.

But each instance of collecting evidence is going to make the next instance of collecting evidence harder, and without a repeatable mill instance it’s going to be really hard to put enough mill in the yard to consistently trigger collect evidence, especially since it doesn’t count lands.

It’s probably because it has no immediate impact on the board and if removed it leaves nothing either. But if your opponent can’t remove it they’re dead. It’s still a very strong card in limited

Is Intrude on the Mind really that good? You can't really get a 5/5 with it unless your opponent somehow puts all 5 cards in one pile so you should just assume it's like Fact or Fiction but for one more blue mana that also gives you a 2/2 or 3/3. That token won't likely be all that relevant by that point in the game. Honestly think it's only like a B+.

You choose the piles, it is your opponent who picks which pile you get. So you could easily have 1 pile with five cards and 1 pile with 0 cards, then ask your opponent if you get a 5/5 flyer or get 5 cards.

Its so versatile, you can do a 4/1 split in some board states and like either get a 4/4 that wipes out an attacker + the best card in ur top 5 or 4 cards!! And a chump blocker... all at instant speed. It's not an obvious bomb but it's always incredible

What mode of this card is bad lol five mana flash flying or five mana draw five at instant speed is probably the worst but you can always just choose to go 4/1 or 2/3 which are probably about bomb range by themselves but it has all these modes

@@jackvogel701 Yeah fr, imagine a flash flying 4/4 that impulses + loads the graveyard or a 2/2 flash flyer that ancestral recalls, this card is nuts and in situations where they die to a 5/5 flyer at flash which honestly not that uncommon its a draw 5!!!!

I don't think it should be this high on the list, but it is really good. If you do a 4/1 split, you're either drawing 4, or you're drawing 1, making a 4/4 flier, and likely eating one of your opponents creatures.

I’d say that Case of the Ransacked Lab should have at least honourable mention. It’ll be a staple for any blue commander deck- cost reduction for all of your instants and sorceries AND turns them all into cantrips. Don’t sleep on it.
