Kirin (Qilin) are legendary chimerical creatures form chinese mythology actually having some chinese dragon-like features (as depicted in Naruto), being later associated with giraffes after the voyage of a chinese diplomat/explorer to Africa (he though they looked similar). In lue of that to this day both creatures share the same name, not only in chinese but korean and japanese too!

Im pretty sure it is the other way around. Qilin is a misinterpretation OF a giraffe when it was described and drawn to the Emperor of ancient China after a visit in Africa. Take a creature with stubbed horns on its head, a veeeeery long neck long hair running down its spine and stag-like appearance with dots that could very easily have been drawn badly and over time looked more like scales overtime and you have a Qilin a few years later. I mean it adds up, both a giraffe AND Qilin share these traits. Dragons are almost always based on a exotic weird looking animal from another place and then misinterpreted into a dragon. While Qilin is not a dragon, you could understand why a giraffe that was described like above would be influenced into looking like one by a dragon oriented people and place in a piece of ancient art.

When edo itachi fought edo nagato he very quickly used the totsuka blade to seal Nagato! If Itachi was sirious about fighting Jiraiya, the fight would be over very quickly. Admittedly the fight between Jiraiya and kisame is a contentious topic. Because haven't actually seen kisame fight seriously whilst wielding samehada. Weirdly I think lightning cloak (or whatever its called) is the strongest when it comes to likelihood to win you a fight. As the ones above use loads of chakra or can only be pulled off with other OP abilities. In those cases you would be better using the other OP abilities and the lightning cloak. It basically makes you better at everything you do.

I'd argue in the Jigen fight, they never got a moment to really prep for that. He'd have to find time to use chakra to make thunder clouds, while managing his chakra to avoid chakra rods that were pinning him. He was also trying to juggle enough chakra in case they had to retreat. There's also the weird planet or dimension they ended up might not even have the same atmospheric conditions like Earth to create thunder clouds the way he wanted. And even if he could form it, while Jigen can't absorb it or shouldn't, he could either shrink himself to avoid it's path at a well timed moment. Or shrink the lighting itself with sukunahikona.

What I don’t get about the chidori is why Kakashi didn’t just slow down. The chidori doesn’t amplify your speed, that’s just Kakashi running as fast as possible. So why not slow down? It’s not like it’ll reduce the cutting power that much.

He told Kakashi that he had the destructive force (the chidori) and the speed needed for it (Kakashi’s actual speed) but running as fast as he does gives him tunnel vision. It’s never stated nor implied that chidori amplifies speed. It’s just that most shinobi don’t run full speed in a straight line like the chidori requires you to. But it seems like the running is done to increase the piercing power, which makes no sense to me given it’s a lightning style jutsu.

Sasuke was going to use Kirin on Team 7 early in shippuden. I don’t think he needs to make storm clouds I think he can use his own chakra. And I’m pretty sure during his fight with Itachi he doesn’t have that much chakra left, that’s why he literally tells Itachi “this will be my last jutsu” he made the storm cloud so he wouldn’t have to use as much chakra, the storm cloud did probably make it stronger tho

Mr. Hammer, you forget that the chidori can only be used three times before it inflicts death in the user which was probably right cons in the war arc but whatever as stated in the original show, isidori can only be used twice because if you use it a third time you die. Kakashi said it himself but it probably got red conned

That's not correct, He said that Sasuke as a 12 year old only had enough chakra to use it twice, If you run out of chakra you die in Naruto, Kakashi at the same time had enough chakra to use it 4x.

What is the difference between purple lightning and chidori? It’s said that purple lighting is a “slower” jutsu, but what’s stopping the user from just… moving slower when using the chidori? What does the speed of the user have anything to do with the jutsu itself.

Kirin is a mythical chinese creature that looks like a four legged dragon-lion-goat thing. When Giraffes were introduced in china, merchants sold them as kirins (the mytical beast) thus the namw for Giraffe in both chinese and japanese is Kirin.

I think you shouldve put Chidori and lightning blade in different sections. Chidori and Lightning are essentially the same but the users make it different. It is shown that kakashi's have more destruction power which is why its called lightning blade do to slicing through lightning. Its also shown different in the game. When sasuke uses chidori he just palms the users body while when kakashi uses it, its called lightning blade, and it actuallly pierces through the opponent instead of just touching.

Because sasuke had a rinnesharingan and HALF of kurama +all 8 other tailed beasts. Naruto had, himself, sage mode, half of kurama. Half of kurama > all other 8 tailed beasts combined. Sasuke had a disgusting boost. Naruto just had surrounding sage chakra from the valley.
