I just happened to watch the 2016 Paralympics livestream and was just blown away at how amazing all the athletes are and got sucked in. Actually watched more of this than the Olympics. Was absolutely impressed by all the lifters but when Siamand came out and did his opener I was left speechless at how easy he made it look. Then his 310 came and he made it look like a paperweight. Still to this day I will argue until I'm blue in the face this is the strongest pure bencher, weight and form wise that ever lived. Can only imagine what he could have done if Polio didn't affect his legs.

This guy is absolutely the most impressive bencher I have ever seen. I have very little doubt that he would be holding a bench above 800lbs was he fully abled. Also, this man's frame is insane, his wrist and hands look like they'd match Cyplenkov's.
@Turboy65
@Turboy65 Жыл бұрын
Why? He had full use of every muscle that actually matters in the bench press. Leg drive is bullshit. The power to lift the bar in a bench press does NOT come from the bottom half of the body. Leg usage can only make you a bit more stable, but doesn't help you to actually push any harder. If you are in a very stable position, leg drive means nothing.
@jackhannon4322
@jackhannon4322 Жыл бұрын
@@Turboy65 Wtf? Literally every competitive bencher out their disagrees with you. Leg-drive, back arch, and scapula postitioning all effect bench.
@Turboy65
@Turboy65 Жыл бұрын
@@jackhannon4322 They may contribute to stability. But, answer this question: Which muscles are engaged when pushing a weight away from your cheste when you are lying down on your back? Are leg muscles involved other than to maybe keep you stable on the bench? I don't disagree that you use your legs to stabilize yourself, but the power of the press does not come from your legs.
@jackhannon4322
@jackhannon4322 Жыл бұрын
@@Turboy65 The stability allows for more weight to be pressed. Also leg-drive does help bump up the bar alittle bit during the first part of the rep.
