One risk I see with the Hammer of the Just is that the premier fiend fight of act 3 actually has mechanics that can punish radiant damage, so there's a risk of anti-synergy there.

If Cruel Sting was a finesse weapon it would have been so much better. At least then it could be a good ranger/rogue weapon; or maybe an «evil» version of Phalar Aluve. If you are making a drow build; making strengh the primary stat seems really niche

Orphic Hammer is also classed as a Thrown weapon so equipping it on a standard ThrowZerker or Eldrich Knight build still nets you very competent damage output to say the least while also being able to make use of the mobility those characters tend to have for the defensive functions you mentioned. Not sure that's enough to bump it up to S-tier when it's competing so heavily with the Dwarvern Thrower and Nayrulna for that slot, but the fact that it looks sick as hell when Karlach has it while wearing the Unwanted Masterworks Armour certainly is.

I did something simular when I made Dwarf Thor. Its a fun build that used lightning charges and the Dwarfen Thrower for ranged attacks. EK is a really good class in general; super tanky and you can even dump Int if you want

Got all the way to keyheric thorn before I realized I was only doing 1 point of damage when throwing it on my eldrich knight lazel. Pissed me off realizing it didn’t have the thrown property.

@@benross9174 was going for Thor hammer throwing build. 6EK/2 tempest cleric/4 evo wiz. When I realized the added lighting damage wasn’t being added to the throw. Unfortunately being my first play through I didn’t realize the drake throat glaive was a thing to correct it. The lighting jabber doesn’t give me the same feel of the character. (Ridiculous I know).

I love balders gate 3 and i love your videos because you have a way of speaking that is nice to listen to. And, as I prep for thanksgiving dinner and throw this latest video on in the background to hears today's niche baldurs gate information (that i will attempt to apply in my playthroughs), I find myself calmly peeling hard boiled eggs. In defense of the Blade of Oppressed Souls: It has a super strong niche in rafters fights. If your party is elevated, and the enemy is taking their time coming up to you, inflicting madness and then pushing an enemy off into their mess of friends raises madness' value overall. It's a tiny niche, but top tier when it comes up.

I wish they would make Ketheric's Warhammer more unique. I love killing everyone in Moonrise, disarming Ketheric and running away before going to Shadowfell. Ketheric's hammer would feel like a great reward for doing it if the weapon was something more than +1 Warhammer.

regarding the vicious battleaxe, If 'im not wrong, the 7 additional dmg on critical hits is the same kind of dmg as the kind of dmg you do on yor attack (if it is just "plain" 7 dmg or slashing as the axe please correct me), so if you combine it with the dagger and the bow it is a total of 21 dmg. If you are doing piercing dmg by using the dagger as your main hand attack and the bhalist armor it should be 42 aditional dmg on a critical hit. In builds with guaranteed critical hits like an assasin rogue it lets you hit for more than 200 on a single sneak attack.

Aside from its use as a throwing or one-handed weapon, I feel like Nyrulna is even great as a two-handed weapon using the versatile property as well. It's much easier to acquire than Balduran's Giant Slayer and it deals piercing damage which has potential overpowered synergies at this stage of the game. If you abuse piercing vulnerability it's easily a top-tier option, but even without that I think there are very few two-handed weapons that compete with Nyrulna.

Trident of waves is my favorite weapon led to my favorite build warlock fighter thief allowing for minmaxed dexterity and charisma from mirror of loss. I used it in combination with coldsnap and winter’s clutches.

If you aren’t lactose intolerant you can use eldritch knight to bound the chargebound hammer, unequip it, respec, and it will retain the binding (and benefits) until long rest. Great to use on other builds that want it but don’t want the eldritch knight 3 lv dip or hex blade dip. A bit annoying to have to refresh it but I find myself rarely long resting even in honor mode. (This is cheesy to do…)

Lmao, just as you're finishing up they announce a major expansion to the game. I very much enjoy watching these videos, but this feels like the boulder rolling back down the hill the instant it gets to the top. I assume they're adding new equipment with the subclasses, but they haven't announced that AFAIK, so maybe it's "just" the 12 subclass options, which would be plenty as well. On weapons, I'm interested to see what they do with the hexblade, considering a lot of it was baked in to pact of the blade. Will they do bespoke weapons instead?

Too bad BG3 did not create the Dwarf Thrower, the rare magic item created by Elven mages that threw any Dwarf who wielded it. I think this was an old Dragon Magazine magic item similar to the Head of Vecna, but I could not find it on Google. Thanks!!

Should the charge bound Warhammer not be lower? It seems like if it's only valuable on blade warlocks who want to be using melee attacks or Eldritch knights who don't want to be throwing builds then it's only good for very niche builds

I don't know about S-tier for Charge-bound. By your own admission, it's only useful for some characters of just two classes, and the EKs among those are better off with throwing builds, which will be online by the time you get the hammer. That screams B-tier at best

Dolor dagger in main hand, vicious battleaxe off hand, vicious shortbow, craterflesh gloves and of course bhaalist armour. Build is either gloomstalker 5, assassin 7 or sorcerer 4, swordsbard 6, paladin 2 (for the last option you would also wear the helmet of arcane acuity). You end up easily doing over 150 dmg per attack and you can do like 4/5 attacks in a turn on honor mode without much difficulty. These builds benefit greatly from the "dual wielding without the feat" glitch and the caster build can also be absolutely broken if you use the exploit to get infinite sorcery points and spell slots, but neither are really necessary to perform well. Finally you can obviously swap the battleaxe for another dolor dagger, but i simply see that as them being equal in terms of usefulness (both easily S tier weapons).

I wonder what weapons might be on the list in each act and I'm betting on: Act 1: Knife of the Undermountain King, Phalar Aluve, Hand Crossbow +1, Titanstring Bow, The Blood of Lathander, Mourning Frost, Voss' Silver Sword (?), The Spellsparkler (?)... Act 2: Shar's Spear of Evening... and the rest will be a surprise. Act 3: Markoheshkir, Nyrulna, The Dead Shot... and that's all powerful gear.

Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that. I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana. Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind. Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash. Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected. So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen. This is a fact and you can't deny it.

You are being very loose with the term exploit. I've heard you use it many times where I wouldn't have. This game gives the player a lot of options. Making use of these options is not unfair or underhanded. Unless the devs call something an exploit, it is just working as intended as far as I'm concerned.
