Lol, he was feeling the exact same apprehension and emotional excitement that he told the Pro-Gun kid to try and not feel. It was, so very cute, watching him chomp at the bit. He is a professional in his craft and I majorly respect him for being able to play mediator, sort of, and focus on having a logical and professional debate, whether he agrees with it or not, and that one thing, in my mind, that makes him wonderful. It's more they're afraid of the students safety. There was already a fairly recent violent act that occured on the UT campus I believe last year, I lived in Austin that's why I know. They don't want the students to cause any violence towards one another which is why they were okay with them standing a certain distance apart rather than sit next to each other. I agree. People tend to turn debates into fights with "winners" and "losers." However, I believe Steven is trying to encourage healthy debate amoung the students and make points when they try to morph it into a competition. It's not as informative for us at home, but this direction Steven has taken is very much needed. Why not try critiquing the two gentlemen on the topics they choose to discuss and think about how you would have tried to debate with them.
