The amount of people that die due to homicide every year is roughly 25,000 a year. Or 5 in 100,000. The average for western nations is 2-3 in every 100,000 The idea that without those guns 300k extra people would have been killed is impossible. That would put us at 95 murders for every 100,000 that level is seen almost nowhere. The worst homicide rate in the world is 60 for every 100,000. It is 2025 and I just watched this video. Let me just say your spin on our health care system was sooo negative and so not typical that I had to write my very first comment on this issue. I am a 67 year old Canadian female and of course have free healthcare in Ontario, Canada. I was shocked at your negative and slanted experience when you went to the province of Quebec, Canada to test out our social health care system. Your experience was skewed. Let me explain why. The first reason why you experienced what you did is because you are (were ) very young. Secondly the reason you gave for your health issue at the ER desk was such a small one. I could have told you that you would be wasting your time by going in the first place. Also the Emergency Room is for an emergency. This is like calling 911 to complain about your high electricity bill. Aux contraire, my 93 year old mother and I live in Ontario, Canada. Both of us have had nothing but excellent, excellent health care experiences. In fact, last October I had non-urgent testing done and it was found that I needed my gallbladder removed. The surgery was booked within 3 weeks (this was not an emergency). The staff who took care of me from the registration desk, lab technicians, several nurses, and the doctor involved in my care took all the time I needed to respond to my questions and concerns. All staff from start to finish (at least 10 people) were friendly, patient and efficient. I was given an IV and also a warm blanket to keep me comfortable until surgery. Within 2 hours I was prepped and ready for surgery. When I went into the surgical room, there were 5 people in the room ( the anesthetist, 3 nurses and surgeon). The surgery went off without a hitch. I now feel fantastic and in fact am considering giving a donation to the hospital because my experience was such a positive one. Also, my 93 year old mother lives independently in our childhood home. She belongs to the Geriatric Clinic. This clinic's mandate is to keep the elderly independent and out of the emergency room. As such, a personal support worker visits my mother every day for 1.5 hours each day for personal care. She gets regular blood work done where the lab technician goes to her house and takes blood. My mom also belongs to a program where she is assigned a person 2 hours per week who takes her to the bank/grocery store, takes her to the dentist/doctor, and also can have some light housekeeping. All of this is without cost. Finally, in your experiment, you need to know that the young, healthy people typically wait longer. This is where the triage comes in. The heart patients; patients who are bleeding; ca/bike accident patients get seen first. This is why the wait. I will not deny it: yes, there is a wait in the ER but it is well worth it. I cringe when I here people from outside Canada think they can explain how our social health care works without living here in Canada. Every research project deserves at least hundreds or maybe thousands of data points . I am disappointed that you think that interviewing less than 15 people gives you solid knowlege of our social health care system. Shame on you for spreading mis-information. I love our health care system and until you live here to experience it, you really dont know what it is like. Thank you for your time.
