In August of the 1976 NFL season, Atlanta Falcons owner Rankin Smith decided to give head coach Marion Campbell a contract extension, even though Campbell had only won 25% of his games as the head coach of the team. Not even two months later, the Atlanta Falcons fired Marion Campbell.
