I think there is actually an official source on the purposes of robot masters, for example: Ice Man wasn't built for helping global warming, instead he was merely built for exploration of cold zones. All of the Megaman 2 robot masters are solely made for combat. All of the Megaman 3 robot masters (except Shadow Man, whose origin is unknown) were built for exploring space to collect resources. Star Man was built for exploring the universe. Chill Man was ACTUALLY built for helping global warming. Astro Man was merely built for a planetarium. Galaxy Man was built for managing meteorites and whatnot to avoid collision with the planet.

Bubbleman and Metalman are way more useful than you realize. Bubbleman can operate underwater without any issues, making him incredibly useful for underwater rescue or salvage missions. He also has a weapon designed to work underwater that in fact turned out to be the most powerful in the game since it was the check against Dr. Wiley. And Metalman throws saw blades, making him a godsend to the lumber industry.

I appreciate the stupidity showdown between Top Man and Hard Man, who I always thought was supposed to be some kind of sentient wrecking ball, which is a stupid idea in the first place.

Hard Man is supposed to be a land levelling press, why did that need to be sentient? If you put him on a crane by a very strong chain, he can technically be a wrecking ball, I suppose. He's probably about as heavy as a real-life wrecking ball, it would just be slower because he's not that much larger than a human person. It's arguably even stupider because he's built for that hyperspecialized purpose, so what else can he even do? Bright Man is just stupid because he can't even help people in natural disaster situations beyond being a lamp in any way a human worker can't due to how fragile his lightbulb is. Also, he can't get wet, and floods are the most common natural disaster, plus humans drown easily. If you made him waterproof and less fragile, at least he'd be justified because he'd also be doing humanitarian aid situations that kill people. At least Toad Man absolutely needs to be sentient to do his job correctly and he works with pesticides, which are dangerous to human workers. Top Man seems stupid until you realize a land surveyor who is a giant sentient gyroscope would be really useful to gather the most detailed elevation data. Different points on the ground have different points of elevation relative to each other, even if by millimeters and micrometers, and such a difference would be important in erosion studies and certain types of construction where those measurements matter. Spark Man just didn't need to be sentient, as he's just an electrical generator. That's his job, by Mega Man 3, Wily and Light could only solve problems by sentient robot. Again, why does the backup power source need to be sentient if it isn't also doing surveillance like Elec Man or Fuse Man? If they gave him convertible hands and made him the spaceship's medic/mechanic, he'd actually have a reason to be sentient. And then there's the category where sentience is needed to do the job, but a human can perform such a task just as efficiently, so they were only built to skirt labor laws. Clown Man and Magic Man come to mind, although Bounce Man might if you didn't read his character bio (he's a whole other can of worms with ethics, why make a working robot with a mental model of a three year old? I feel like that should violate child labor laws, and probably does by the time the ZX games take place). Also, Centuar Man counts because he's supposed to be at our guide for a museum. They really didn't want to pay a teenager poverty wages because it would cost too much in the long run? There are undoubtedly more who exist in-universe but aren't relevant to the games' plot.

As a big fan of Wood Man, I'm glad that he's not the stupidest. I love big chonky trees that attack people, especially if the trees in question are also robots. Also, I don't see why Napalm Man is stupid. His purpose is to bring death and destruction by firing napalm bombs. That might be evil and horrible, but I don't see how it's stupid. Using napalm apparently isn't a war crime, it's just highly questionable.

I find it very amusing you said that metal is hard to cut with scissors when Cutman was probably designed after actual Sheet Metal Shears, a relatively dangerous job for people to do even with machines. It makes plenty of sense to have a robot in charge of cutting metal into various products, and it makes even more sense to give that robot large shears in case he needs to do something manually.

Cut Man is a lumber jack, Fire Man runs a steel mill, Bomb Man is a demolitions expert designed for construction, Guts Man is a super strong construction worker, Elec Man runs power plants, and Ice Man was designed for arctic studies.

The MM1 Robot Masters were all created for industrial purposes. Fire Man is actually made to incinerate trash. Ice Man is just for artic exploration which feels like something you don't really need a dedicated ice robot for, a fire robot would probably be better for that. All MM2 Robot Masters were made by Wily to kill Mega Man The MM3 Robot Masters were created to explore space, while Shadow Man was actually found in space and upgraded into a Robot Master the MM4 Robot Masters were made for industrial purposes by Dr Cossak and turned on Mega Man when Wily blackmailed him The MM5 Robot Masters were also made by Wily, so they also just exist to kill Mega Man The MM6 Robot Masters are all combat robots, but they aren't made to take down Mega Man specifically. They were part of a robot fighting tournament The MM7 8 and Bass Robot Masters are all a mix of robots built by Wily/King and Robot Masters stolen and reprogrammed, so some of them are made just to kill Mega Man and some had a real use The MM9 10 and 11 Robot Masters all have industrial purposes

Snake Man was engineered to fit into tight spaces while searching alien planets for the resources (to finish Gamma). In other words, he’s pretty useful. Hard Man is clearly useful for mining resources. He can blast through rocks and tough materials with his girth, durability and Hard Knuckles. Top Man is clearly far less useful, since the MM3 robots are sent out to gather resources.

As designer of Windman, (I won the Nintendo Power contest along with a Canadian fan) I didn't Invision Windman fighting like that. I was still stoked to see my name in the end credits though. My own list differs slightly, though some of yours make sense. In *Mega Man 1,* I think it's Bomb Man (for his use of cartoon style ball-and-fuse bombs, and his body for being shaped like a bomb and blast cloud) or Ice Man (he's the only Robot Master who doesn't look _robotic_ he looks like a guy an a heavy snow suit. He's Captain Cold without the ice gun or snow mask! In *Mega Man 2,* it's Bubble Man. Not only are the bubbles slow and goofy, he's not very effective outside of water. In *Mega Man 3,* it's a tough decision between the deadly Snake Man and Top Man. (FYI, Hard Man is a Pile Driver.) Ring Man in *Mega Man 4* is stupid. No argument there. (I do find Pharaoh Man useful, and in spite of his looks, Bright Man is a more effective Flash Man.) In *Mega Man 5,* Stone Man or Charge Man are in the bottom 2. Napalm Man isn't stupid, because he (and Crash Man) are more effective at their job than Bomb Man.

My list as a nerd who spends too much time learning about the robot masters: Mm1: assuming I cant pick the scrapped bond man, who is... Just glue, or oil man powered up for uh... *cough* the serious design flaw on him, i'm gonna go cut man as well. The rest of the lineup is way more important. Mm2: Wood man, hands down. The entire line was created to kill megaman and um... Wily thought armoring one of these robots with wood was a good idea? Bruh??? Mm3: top man. For nothing relating to his design or weapon or combat abilities or anything. I think he's dumb because he was created to... Explore other planets??? Excuse me? I get his good balance might help in places with wonky gravity but he does not resemble a space explorer in the slightest. Mm4: I dont take ringman slander, he was made for combat and his ring boomerangs hit hard. Meanwhile... Bright man was just made to light up dark places? Like, i dunno a flashlight? I just- ough, no thanks. This is 20xx there's a million ways to do that. Mm5: charge man, because he was created, quote, to... "blend in with trains". He also runs on the same things a train does, making his fuel cost extremely high. No thank you. Mm6: also going with centaur man, his job is legit just being a tour guide at a museum. ice man would have amazing utility in heavy machinery, as they often require massive cooling systems(same reason airman wouldnt be stupid in the real world). fire man and heat man on the other hand would be really good in metalurgy oriented tasks. hell, even construction work would be good, with them being able to manipulate metal on site. air man has the added use of being a test helper for air flow oriented tests. which would be great for airplanes and other wind related task including firefighting, as he could be used to control the airflow inside burning places. woodman would be a usefull robot for replanting trees and looking like one, could help him blend in as a security drone against illegal lumber cutting. snakeman, would also be incredible for rescue operations, as he is able to create small drones that could get into tight spaces, helping searches in cases of fallen buildings and cave exploration.

Stupidest Fortress Boss in the entire MegaMan franchise? Classic, X, Zero, ZX, Battle Network, doesn't matter. If your first battle with them is at the end of the game after the main bosses, then they're in the crosshairs for the stupidest.

Dude look into the lore. Crystal man was created by wily to create artificial crystals to make wily a lot of money. Check the lore and comics and manuals they tell you all the reasons the robot masters exist
