This isn't typically considered to be found in the submandibular triangle! It usually skirts around the lower part of the mandible but doesn't enter the triangle.

@@MoreThanSkinDeep I'm an ENT/Head & Neck surgeon and have excised hundreds of submandibular glands. With respect, please check your anatomy books! It's actually the most likely nerve to get damaged in this operation compared to lingual and hypoglossal. Its got variable anatomy with respect to the lower border of the mandible. Some run above but some run as low as 3 cm below the lower border of the mandible in the submandibular triangle. This is why we make the incision two finger breaths below the lower edge of the mandible. It runs sub-platysmally and on the low ones superficial to the upper part of the submandibular gland and facial vein. When we do full neck dissections for cancer we always are conscious of this when dissection out level 1B. Please add. Thank you for all the work you do with KZbin contents.
