As a Californian visiting my Finnish friends, the worst experience I had in Suomi-Finland was being continuously challenged (by complete strangers) scolding me that "You are Finnish girl! You should speak Finnish!" I was visiting in April, when there are few tourists, and apparently I look very Finnish, to boot. People refused to believe that I was a tourist. At one gathering, I even showed them my California driver's license, and they still refused to believe me and were very offended - it appeared to them that I didn't want to acknowledge 'my' Finnish nationality!!
