We have just gone through two weeks of record breaking heat wave in CA. For the first time there have been NO ROLLING BLACKOUTS OR FLEX ALERTS ISSUED. Thanks to these two new solar farms (Mojave Desert and Monterey bay) and battery storage. Game Changer.

Its worse here, our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.

People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyperinflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

I've tried investing in the stock market several times but always got discouraged by fluctuations of stock value. I would be happy if you could advise me based on how you went about yours, as I am ready to go the passive income path.!!

I know of two different people living entirely off the grid, with solar, for many, many years. This is because there are no power lines to where they live. One's in the mountains, and the other in the desert.

They should've shown the "duck" curve. Compare 2021 to 2024; it's dramatic. Batteries are now supplying most of the power during peak demand in California, replacing gas peaker plants.

You can also use sand towers where electricity heats up the Sand and it stores it over a pretty good time. Than you convert the heat back into electricity like during the night. Yes batteries are good but I guess also expensive. A sandtower project was shown in Scandinavian countries and it was successful

Renewables need storage, but not necessarily battery storage. Cryogenic air storage makes better long duration storage. Batteries are better for short duration storage, load peaks and grid stabilisation.

Correction: To make all of the renewables work (all the time) you need STORAGE, SOME OF WHICH are batteries. I'm glad the larger media organizations are finally aware of the facts that a) renewable is here is a major player on our grid, but b) they need energy storage. But too many of these stories equate storage with batteries. There are a great many options, many of them proven and with different storage qualities than batteries. Pumped hydro (including closed-loop pumped hydro), hybrid geothermal, hydro-chemical (use the extra power to make green hydrogen, green methane or green ammonia for use in airplanes and ships), gravity storage, heat battery storage . . . this is a dynamic, rapidly innovating area. Batteries are good to store power for minutes or hours. The others can go from minutes to months.

@@dfirth224 You're right, that didn't make sense, I'll correct my comment... right now we can power the world for one minute and fifteen seconds using every battery currently available. Solar panels and wind turbines are toxic and hurt people, animals, and the planet. There is no such thing as green energy right now, there is no "Climate Crisis", and more CO2 is needed.

I started learning about fusion when I was 9 years old, in fourth grade. It was just around the corner! That was 50 years ago. It’s still “just around the corner”. Even if a: fusion work tomorrow, and b: it’s cheaper than solar+batteries, it’d take decades to build out. Solar and batteries are plug-and-play commodity tech, easy and fast to deploy.
