I’m not even kidding when I say that Succession is the closest thing we have to modern day Shakespeare. Who else can balance comedy, drama, and tragedy so well? As good as he is, I don’t think Brian Cox will ever win an Emmy for this role (well, he only has one more chance anyway). First of all, he is always going to lose an acting challenge head-to-head against Jeremy Strong; and second, he is the only character in that show who doesn’t have an “arc”. Everyone else changes and grows and plays a wide range of A-Z emotions. Logan Roy is basically the same character in the pilot episode as he is in the explosive Season 3 finale.
