Fun fact: Suica (Yes, with a C) is also Japan's most popular payment app, at least it was at one point, maybe not anymore. It's also a pun on watermelon. Previously, before smartphones were as common as they are now, Suica was actually a physical card that you could recharge at convenience stores to use like a credit card, but these days people mostly use a mobile app instead. The reason it's spelled with a "C" is because "ca" is short for "card," this is common with other sorts of cards, like membership cards.
@Shymain7 ай бұрын
A very interesting addendum to this: Suica originated as the smart cards for public transit payment for the JR East transit area (where Tokyo is located) and there are other cards like it used across Japan, such as ICOCA in JR West (Kyoto, Osaka, etc.). These cards are created and managed by the JR companies in some cases and in other cases by local smaller companies -- i.e. Pasmo in Tokyo, SUGOKA in Fukuoka, and PiTaPiTa in the Kansai region. I always thought it was super interesting how diverse the smart card systems were. I collected the 5 mentioned above in my time over there! In fact, this is still what they're mostly used for -- the ability to use them as general function e-cash (and the digital versions of them on mobile devices) are much more recent developments. As such, they're still a bit of a second-class citizen when it comes to payment methods in Japan -- depending on location, the most popular payment method will tend to be either cash or QR code apps like PayPay and Line Pay.

I knew Suika meant watermelon before Suika game ever popped off because of Dr. Stone; a lot of characters are named after things, like Chrome, Magma, Jasper are pretty clear, but some have Japanese names, like Kinro and Ginro. They mentioned that Kinro and Ginro are named after gold and silver, so I figured that musta been true of the other Japanese-named characters, and yep! One of em’s named Suika, and she wears a watermelon rind on her head as a sort of medieval pair of glasses, and that rind is what she was named after both in and out of the story

The way the combo works is if any fruit combines within a second or 2 since the last combo, so the easiest way to do it is hold down the mouse and wait for the fruit to bunch up and start shifting around when 80% of the jar is filled. The lose condition is a fruit needs to be above the background line of the jar for more than 2 seconds, during this you can reset the countdown by combining another fruti with the one above the line. You don’t know the people negatively effected I til like right before their event happens and it is kinda annoying.
