Sue's basically parenting herself on accident, lol. She loves all the sweet and wholesome things and keeps herself out of trouble. She even studies without being told to study. She's the kid they can put auto-pilot on for, which can look like neglect but it's not. It's trust. They just need to get a little better and reminding her that her voice still matters and occasionally let her pick something that makes her feel heard and acknowledged.

It’s the fact that Sue is this type of kid but her parents still can’t bring themselves to do the bare minimum for her. Legit all Sue’s asking for is some quality time, positive attention and/or a little outward affection from her parents, but they still have the damn nerve to ignore those very normal needs from their kid AND even flippantly say shit like “oh yeah, Axl’s my favorite lol”.

Planes mostly fly on auto-pilot nowadays - and they still crash sometimes. That's why we still have pilots, there are two on every flight to check up on things, manage the general diraction, control during take-off - and to stick the landing. There are always two of them, to share the work load and to provide support and guidance (to the plane and each other) Even a plane on auto pilot can crash - if not maintained and guided correctly, so why would'nt a child? And in what world are people expected to know that you love them if you don't show and/or say it??? The least you can do is say it.

The worst part about having a negligent father is this is the cycle. At least it was for me. Separated when I was born until I was 3 and then I was gifted honor roll all through school then I started smoking pot and it sucks bc they don’t care about you being successful so you try to get negative attention to find they don’t care about your failures either. They don’t even care if you try to make them feel how they make you feel. So then after a very long hard time, you stop feeling anything at all
