Really like the freeform unedited videos. Its cool to see you work through ideas starting from point a. As a creative with a pretty similar process, its nice to see someone else approach abstract ideas like this. Wholeheartedly agree with the sun/astrology/story-circle analogy too. Especially when it comes to tone when developing stories. I've always thought climaxes/third acts work best with a dark cold winter-esque feeling in mind.

I love that similarity you’ve found between the sun cycle, with its seasons, and the structure of a story. In summer, we leave our homes, socialize more, feel, do, and in autumn and winter, with the cold, we retreat indoors, hibernate, reflect more in solitude, and that can lead to overthinking, analyzing things, introspection, seeing the dark side because not being exposed to the sun so much makes us a little more depressed, sad, or down. In the end, we need the vitamin the sun gives us to live, to have energy. Light is life, darkness is silence and reflection. In a story about character transformation, and in a person, this makes sense. What I don’t find much sense in is the connection you make between constellations and the existence of God. I understand that you’re saying that if we can see the constellations so clearly from Earth, and each one represents a state in our psyche, that such a fortuitous correlation means there’s a God who planned it. I don’t see it that way. It’s simply a cycle of light and shadow, heat and cold. There are living beings that survive the cold and die from the heat, survive in the dark and die under the warm light. To see humanity as the center of it all seems very naive to me. Also, the constellations aren’t there to give meaning to the seasons and our vital state; rather, they are there because we decided to link certain stars together to form a shape, and we did it at different points in the solar cycle for various reasons (orientation of the seasons to know when the cold is coming and protect ourselves, or to know when to plant by understanding how much cold or heat certain food needs, or to know when certain animals come out to hunt them). We created the constellations and gave them names (Aries, Cancer, etc.) and a value related to the vital state that station provides (cold, heat, sadness, melancholy... as I mentioned before). The fact that the laws of the universe are so "perfect" doesn’t lead to believing in God. It’s simply proof that they are perfect for the rare coincidence that life exists, and with that, beings like us who ask ourselves how perfect the universal laws are that allow us to exist. Astrology could be explained with simple elements like light, shadow, cold, heat, hibernation, socializing... elements that make us live in a certain way. Giving it a mystical and higher meaning, I think, just reflects the need we have to give meaning to everything by adding unnecessary mysteries, like a God who will explain everything at some point. Anyway, I’ll stick with the metaphor of the seasons to apply it in my stories, Tyler. Thanks!

Quite the moving video- story mirroring life, thank you for this. The feeling side of story is the most central part of it. Its beliefs conveyed through feeling. Something that many analytical minds of thought might miss because they can't stop and feel it. Feel their experience through the story and how it reflects their inner world, outside of external concepts and expectations. Thank you for this perspective which reminds us of the core of story!

This is a story from Dan Harmon's Tumblr. The best way to understand the four quadrants is to first identify the protagonist and then divide the Story Circle into two halves, top and bottom, to find opposing concepts. For example, let's say the protagonist is Tyler Mowery, and the opposing concepts are despair and hope. Then, the story would involve him moving from despair to hope and back to despair. Next, divide the Story Circle into left and right, and again find opposing concepts. I'll use ignorance for the right side and knowledge for the left. Now, combine them: Despair / Ignorance Hope / Ignorance Hope / Knowledge Despair / Knowledge With this, a simple story is formed: You despair because you lack knowledge of screenwriting, Then, you regain confidence by just writing without overthinking, As you learn the craft, your skills improve, But, overwhelmed by too much knowledge, you fall into the curse of knowledge and despair once again. Isn't this quite a good character arc and a dialectic? If you're curious, check out Dan Harmon's Tumblr.

Your lack of preparation, your anxiety, the lack of depth in your words when you think you are touching on something essential says a lot about your state of FATIGUE. TYLER, you tell us about yourself. About your feeling of going through a winter of your existence, a winter of loneliness, a feeling of failure. It's normal! You have given a lot in recent years and you have not received the reward you thought you deserved. You don't need to make this public. Talk to friends, family, people you trust, professional or not. STOP and come back to us with a beautiful structured video for example... If religion interests you, there are many production companies specializing in Christian fiction. These are just ideas to tell you, take your time to rediscover your path but keep this difficult stage of your existence for yourself. Friendly.

Who knows why God made tings the way He did. A couple things to think about if we’re going to go to the God vs evil thing (even for a story idea, lol) are: 1. People have been telling stories for personal growth reasons for as long as we could communicate, so they would definitely know the stages of learning an emotional truth. Also those people studied the sun and stars like mad so of course they were going to frame the story structure within that belief. 2. God could have made the constellations etc to reflect our growth as a human being (and the enemy is tricksy: false, so could have tried to come between us and this way of viewing things if you believe in that stuff, giving it a bad rep to the more extreme of us Christians). That’s an idea of its own. lol. 3. For you be sure you remember that this cycle is a metaphor for life, who or whatever inspired us to see it this way and for whatever reason. There is no reason a small journey couldn’t start and end in a day. If you do think we’re unconditionally bound by the cycle of the sun I’d say that’s going a little far and I get it, I’m open minded and creative but to comment on the people here worried about you I’ll tell you I have schizophrenia and as my reality first broke down these were the kinds of things that started to get out of control. I eventually was able to admit something was up and got help. I’m not saying you’re in that circumstance but if things are getting rough or weird please do get help. I’m in a better place now and working on my stories. If I hadn’t got help I could be dead. Take care of yourself. Looking forward to the next one. Glad to see you didn’t give up man! Happy writing!

The story of the Sun is about Jesus. Who do we know plays the role of Jesus best? Satan, God of this world. Dont follow the wrong Sun. One Sun talks about the story of Death and rebirth. Gods story is about everlasting life. Follow no man ! only God!!! Do not be led astray. God bless you all and Glory to God!
