The Sun Sets on Another Week with No Baby ║ Hang Out with This Homeschool Mom of 8 │ School Week 26

Hannah's due date has come and went and we're still waiting to meet our sweet baby girl! I spent a few mornings resting in bed because I'm not sleeping well at night. School work carried on as usual. Miss Sophia was happy to get a "school" book from our KZbin friend, Christine, and really enjoyed doing school work, too.
We ordered seeds for our garden and are getting excited about the upcoming garden season, even if rain, wind and snow are still blowing around outside.
We get to see Thomas at work; he's really enjoying his job. He says it's become more fun as time goes on. I found some misplaced footage from last week talking about Thomas paying the natural gas bill, so I added it into this week's vlog.
We homeschool using ACE curriculum. Our kids are 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 5, 4 and 2. Baby Hannah was due one week ago (as of this uploading.)

My grandmother had 13 kids (2 passed away at 7 n 4yrs old) My dad was the youngest n his dad passed away when my dad was around 4, leaving my grandmother to raise all those hooligans alone. 10 boys n 1 girl! As the kids started working she always took a percentage from their paychecks telling them they now need to help paying the rent. My grandmother was a great woman, always kind and not a greedy bone in her body! As the kids grew and started leaving home, she handed each an envelope. She saved every dime those kids gave her and returned the money to give them a good start in life while she was teaching them responsibility. My dad turned out to be a wonderful husband and dad! We all miss your chats. Would be so nice if they let you vlog from heaven, but I guess there's so much more to do there, lol! Btw, your 4 oldest boys are doing a fantastic job with the little ones. Even Eden is doing a great job. You must be looking down so proudly!

I actually feel really good other than I don't sleep well at night. I wake up and just can't fall back asleep so then I don't want to get up in the morning. Once I finally get going, though, I feel like I could go on like this for a good long time yet.

So this is a little personal but I spent the last 6 ish weeks being told I could have cancer on my thyroid, turns out as of yesterday I don't (woo-hoo! Haha) , but I just wanted to thank you, Tom, and the kids for all your help in bringing a lot if light to what could have been a very dark situation. Ya'll are amazing and I just wanted to take a second to type this in appreciation. Good luck with Hannah when she finally comes :)

Kattie Anderson yes I agree with all you have said,to many young girls get pregnant and have no solid relationship with guy,how is that meant to work,and then get pregnant again,how do I KNOW? As I was one at 19,got married and it was disaster,3 kids 4 years later finished,it's affect it has on children,all children need 2 parents and good happy parents,large fancy house and latest gadgets are not what children need,,Andrea and Tom are excellent parents they show love and family life the way it should be,we could all learn so much watching their vlogs especially if a young parent,to many start off having kids and there is no solid foundation to bring kids into,when do young girls learn having baby does not make a relationship work that was already failed or failing,I think it should be taught in schools or at home so girls and boys can listen and learn,to many single parents and it's not what children need and crave,they need two parent stable home environment to grow and thrive,Andrea and Tom you see results for yourself solid family life at its best,😊😊😊xxxx

Regarding your garden, what are you using for fertilizer? What are you doing to improve the soil? Have you limed the soil recently? Years of organic gardening have taught me that in order to feed your vegetables and fruit, you need to feed the plants; to do that you need to feed the soil and the soil will feed the plants. Soil is a living organism. If you try to feed the plants directly through chemical fertilizers, such as Miracle-Gro, you kill off the good things in the soil, like bacteria, and make it toxic for worms.. A good test of the health of the soil is how many worms you see when you dig in the soil. Just a suggestion....

We've got loads and loads of worms. Our soil seems to be pretty healthy. We use a few different things in the garden, chiefly our compost and rabbit manure. Our main trouble last year was that nothing would sprout. I think our seeds were too old. Many people in our community complained of stunted growth, too. I'm thinking it might've been our weather. As you know, every year is a surprise!

Have you considered enrolling Thomas in college? I know most states now have programs where juniors and seniors in high school get free tuition to take classes at their local community college. I know you are fairly rural, but with the self guided learning style your children are accustomed to, he could earn college credit for free taking online classes. Just a thought. My sister is graduating highschool with an AA for free and she is by no means a exemplary student, but the system worked for her.

We are a family of 13 so I enjoy watching the business of your household. We have four married and seven still home the youngest being only 3 years old. We also have our eighth grand baby on the way. I'm average height, but I still didn't weigh 100 pounds when I graduated from high school. I joined the US Marines (long story) and almost failed the physical because if I'd weighed 1 pound less I'd have been underweight. I was shaped just like Asher and my mom used to say she thought my legs would snap when I ran. My how times (and hormones) have changed things! Tom was pretty much a rail, too, when he was younger, though he always had his little poochy stomach that he inherited from his dad and has passed on to Thomas. It's cute seeing the family resemblance.

We can't plant out most things until the end of May, but we'll probably start some of our seeds indoors here in a few weeks. Even if you have a yellow thumb like me, you'll still get a lot of joy and pleasure at growing some plants. If all you get is one tomato, it'll be the best, most special tomato ever and you'll think it was all worth it. :)

It's a hole that her mother needs to mend. :) Asher always wants her to wear all purple on purple day so he puts them on her in spite of the disrepair!
