Awesome tribute! I agree with all of those who say Christopher Reeve was the only true Superman but let's not forget Tim Daly. Even though he was only an animated Superman, his voice was the best! I can't watch any animated Superman unless it's Tim Daly doing the voice! Oh...and there's only one true General Zod and it's Terence Stamp!

I used to think that it was a stupid costume until I saw Christopher Reeves wore it. He is truly the one and only Superman.

That may because Reeve was younger than George Reeves was when he was the television Superman. But by Christopher Reeves' time, standards were more liberal regarding the "fit" of costumes. Also better materials had been developed. Things were more conservative in the 1950s, and they had to be careful about how "revealing" costumes were. But George Reeves was a better live action Superman, I think than Kirk Allan was. His Superman was sort of goofy and unbelievable. He always looked like he was laughing at himself for wearing the costume. Also, he didn't have the build.

That's the one they SHOWED in costume form, that suit would never fit Tom Welling, EVER. Routh is shorter and scrawny, plus the suit's see-through for some reason.

Every actor that has portrailed the iconic character of superman have done a wonderful job. Especially Henry. Not to discount any others whatsoever. All have been wonderful. Henry just had a better script. Kudos to Dean Kain for a memorable network TV show, and I cannot commend another great show of Smallville with actor Tom Welling for his Amazing portrail as well. But in my heart of hearts, I have to say that Reeves is the most iconic superman "of my day". I say that knowing that a youthful generation will come to know a different, or better "superman". And that will absolutely become the difference between "acting" and the newest technology. As all older, and memorable, and classic movies will become. All I can hope for, is the respectful nod, to the true classic that came before. If that is present, I think it would be ok.

One of the best Superman moments for me was when I was surprised by a display of his powers, and it was damned hard to surprise me since I was a big fan from way, way back. It was in the pilot episode of "Lois & Clark." Clark was laying in his bed in his first apartment in Metropolis. The light near the ceiling went out. I thought he was going to stand up, float up to the fixture, and play around with the light bulb to get it working again. Instead, he just floats up there from his horizontal position, taps the bulb, and then floats back down, still in his original pose without ever standing up or otherwise getting vertical. That prompted me to slap myself on the forehead and exclaim, "Of course!" 🙂

I don't know if you're aware of it but there was a show between Reeves and Cain called The Adventures of Superboy which was a young Cal El. It ran for a few years and stopped about a year before Lois and Clark. If memory serves the fellow that played Superboy got pretty far along in the casting process for Superman Returns or Lois and Clark and was ultimately not picked because of association with the old show.

Great video but I feel like the Brandon Routh superman should have been listed before Tom Welling. The Superman Returns movie is where they got the suit from for the Smallville series. I know Smallville was on TV before the movie but to me the way the video is done it looks like Superman Returns took the suit from Smallville.

For my money, in terms of best Lois, it's pretty much a tie between Teri Hatcher and Erika Durance. Oh and the supersuit that Tom Welling wore at the end of Smallville was Brandon's suit from Superman Returns. Also, Brandon got to wear a different supersuit in the Crisis (2019) CW crossover series.
