Well.. e89 n54 z4 will need a bit more than just lowering springs and spacers to be good... First lowering springs only change the look... non adabtive shocks are too soft... adaptive dampers are fragile and expensive to replace... to fix all that you would need a proper coilover kit... From there on... many stock bushings are way too comfort orientated on z4...softer rubber and fluidfilled... and where m cars use balljoints it has rubber bushings.... so as front suspension is from e90 3 series... there you can installl m3 control arms... this gets you stronger bushings, balljoint on the lower arms and more negative camber... On the rear main trailing arm bushing is too soft and can be replaced with stiffer one and use limiters to limit its deflection... on the hub you can also mimic e46 m3 and replace one bushing with a balljoint just as it is on e46 m3... Now after that this thing will handle quite nicely... could also add h&r swaybars... Lowering springs are for looks... eibach springs are too soft and not sporty enough... have used them and really didnt like them. On the engine side... n54 can be easily tuned... but its also maintenance heavy.... still with downpipes intercooler and a tune it can be turned up to 420hp... with better turbos? 550hp ... 600hp... or even more... Also folding hardtops arent made anymore... nowadays if you want one on a newish car then youll only find it on exotic cars... cheapest being c8 corvette.... Everything else has moved to clothtops... So this folding hardtop is starting to be a pretty rare sight. And if you get used to having one you dont want anything else... theres something about open top motoring.. you hear more, feel more smell more... who wants to sit in a dingy coupe cockpit on nice sunny day...

@@donsirsimon There are plenty of cars that run lowering springs or even a shock and spring combo be it daily driving or Motorsport application. I myself had a good experience with a simple eibach spring and kyb shock set up on a Miata. I do understand that is dismissible for some as it is not a popular thing to do, but those who do seem to enjoy it especially for their budget and purpose. And yes this Z4 does use one of the final variants of the n54 as mentioned in the video and I have a few videos linked in the description about how to gain more power on them as well as common problems to address. I cannot speak for everyone but I have had a great experience with some of the things you have mentioned. Now I will get back on topic a bit more. The power to weight between the 35is and the Supra 3.0 is pretty much identical, and sure the Supra is probably 2-3tenths faster but as I like to say that is what the aftermarket is for. It may need something as simple as a change in final drive to be just as quick but compared to the GR Supra it will probably need a tune. What I am speaking on here is a more affordable alternative to a car that people like but cannot afford and with that being under warranty and not wanting to do any upgrades to void warranty etc. The wheel and tire set up is a way to improve the ride quality and handling to make this a more complete and enjoyable car. All in my opinion of course. However, I do really appreciate you sharing your knowledge about BMW and how easy it is to have a conversation. Feel free to share more in the future.

Bunch of raging fanatics in the comment section. The e89 z4 is heinously underrated because people dont research it. The n54 engine in the z4 is incredibly similar to the b58 and even has forged internals. The z4's variant of the n54 is a little better than the 335i in a few ways, such as the charge pipe and exhaust. A simple tune will put the z4 safely above 350hp/380tq

Thank you! This is what I was trying to explain when I mentioned it has a revised n54 from the 1M bmw. And we know the capabilities of the n54. I have even made separate videos on how to get to a power level with and without using flex fuel. Thank you for your input.

Do you think the NA version of the e89 can reach good level of performance without destroying all the relatability? I own a e89 and I love that, but it’s honestly my very first car so I don’t have much to compare her with. until now i just changed air filter, put 30mm h&r springs, 20 and 16mm spacers.. lastly i put some Michelins 4s without run flut. no idea how much I earned with all this but I guess something in the single digit🤣 but still, it’s my daily and where I live roads are bumpy. It feel fast to me but as i told you I don’t have much to compare her with. I want to make some power but rn I’m taking a bit of time to fix some micro switch and oil leak issues. I think I have also to check camber and convergence again after put the spacers last week. In corners she feel glued to the asphalt and I love that, i did go for the na version (n52) because it’s well know for being strong and because the sound it’s too much better of the turbo option, other that the reduced cost ofc. What do you think it’s the limit to have a good power but still being able to maintain it without go crazy? Thank you for your feedback, loved the video

Oh yeah i do run 225/35/19 and 255/30/19 on mine you mention different mesueaments is it because it’s the 35is version or? Because i saw many people put m2/m3/m4 F chassis wheels on my model as well so they may just fit good but im not sure after lowering spring and spacers 😬 sorry my ignorance man im pretty new in this world

@@Stopbark Yes I mentioned different versions because the 35is. And WELCOME 🙏🏾. Cars that you can compare yours with for example are the GR86/FRS/BRZ and between your car and the 128i they are more affordable versions of what those cars can do. You made a great decision on choosing the N52 for lower maintenance and affordability. And I agree the sound is great. I will check but if the final drive (differential ratio) is more responsive on the turbo models than you can swap one into your car which will change the power band to be more responsive. You may lose cruising speed and reduce mpg by a small amount but then again that can also depend on how heavy your foot is. I’ll look into it a bit more and get back to your with what I find ASAP.

@ unfortunately it’s an automatic but not the smg the response is better than what i tought i heard that many with double clutch have some trouble, once its warm she let me hit the red line easily

Off the mark dude. Different engine. You also got it wrong when you talked about Supra engines. The A90 Supra and A90 Supra GR are not different models. It's just that the earlier Supras came with a 2 port B58 with 335hp and the later ones come with a 6 port B58 engine that makes 382hp. Def need to research this stuff more before giving advice. In the real world a previous gen Z4 35iS is not even close to the performance of the Supra.

@@s13180sxSR20DET Hey thanks for commenting. I do apologize for the confusion but I never said the Supra came with different engines. I just mentioned the B58 in the Supra is the same is the current year Z4. Which based on your comment we both know. Please let me know if you’d like for me to simplify what I was saying in this video.

The N54 on the Z4 is easily capable of around 370hp with a simple tune and no mods because it has forged internals. Not sure whether the b58 has forged internals or not. So it's a VERY fair comparison

Different engines and different transmissions. False info, because the Supra and this model Z4 will not perform the same. This Z4 wont even performa the same as the Z4 shared chasis with the GR Supra. Even the same chasis Z4 as the Supra doesn't perform the same or have the same feel as the GR Supra. 😅 Toyota tuned the Supra to Toyota's idea of performance specs. Its like saying a Chevy Cruz will perform the same as a Civic because they are both 4 cylinders and 4drs. 😅 completely not true.

@@BoostedAP1 Thanks for commenting but the Chevy Cruze and Civic do not share anything between each other. I do apologize for any confusion about this video but it is not to say one is better than the other per se. It is to express similarities and foundations for other things. The different engines and power to weight are mentioned in the video and there is no false information here. Feel free to look into the specs if you’d like and some times as we know the truth hurts.

@@ModstarzOfficial the older z4 and newer z4 does not share the same chassis or engine either and are totally different cars. So how can it be compared to the new Z4 let alone the new A90. Somebody is going to take your advice and buy that Z4 to find out it isnt the same at all. LOL

@@BoostedAP1 Again I never said they were the same but their performance for some models are similar like the 35is and the non GR Supra. As mentioned in the video this Z4 was made a few years back, and would be a predecessor if that makes sense. Also for anyone that gets one and wants to do upgrades they can check out my other videos as well. It won’t take much to have this on par with an A90. Even if it couldn’t be (which it can) spending less money for the same or potentially better result depending on the owner and goals seems like a win-win to me. I do understand your frustration, and confusion as I have gotten this response from other videos like my MOPAR series, GTR and ZR1 videos as well. But not many are willing to have a conversation like you. I can send you the information I have gathered to make this conclusion if you’d like and even then you can still disagree and that’s ok. We have the capability to and often make our decisions based on preference, bias and information . Wouldn’t you agree?
