It’d be interesting if you had two of those Ping wedges - one new and one worn - just to compare it to itself but you’ll need to do that next season

Spin numbers going up when wet goes against everything I thought I knew.

I always dry the face of my wedge before hitting it, if it's wet. Better test would be wet the ball.

Shafts have a big influence on distance and spin, it would need the same newish shaft in each head to be conclusive, also forged irons can move loft over a couple of years, and may need a bit of a tweak to bring it back to its stamped loft. Still, a good test with interesting numbers.

Big worry on cheap online clubs is the manufacturing tolerances. The lofts can be way out which really throws everything else. Actually thought the takeway was, keep the old wedge rather than buy a cheap one.

Liked the premise and data presentation of the video. However i think you should have done a wet ball to coincide with them. In theory and practice we can control the club face being dry but cannot with the ball

Interesting test 👍 I think that if you have money, buy the best. Though you can still play good scores and enjoy golf with cheaper wedges 🙂

I think you should have also included swing speed in your stats just to give an indication if any of the variance was from that. I also think using same swing speed is unfair as the type of wedge (blade v hollow) will affect smash factor and hence spin. Should have been trying to hit 90 with all and then compare spin

Concept of this is good. A fitted wedge should be better. Even that 1 degree flat can be a good difference. I play SM9s and switch every other season. SM4 may be used two years but it is many years old by design. Not a bad thing just isn't their newest (SM10). Cheaper wedges have reduced bounce and degree limits. They do tend to go higher for me when I've tried them. Key is whatever you have practice often and use the ball you tend to play with.

thanks - i dont feel like ill need a new wedge now for a bit!

Bunker test was trash, should have hit another with the cheap wedge, that was clearly a bad effort

That cheap G-1 is way too underrated. I bought it 4-5 months ago and go several rounds of 18. It performs very well in rainy season (Thailand). The clip doesn't talk much about the build. It is a conforming grooves with milled face. The design lookS alike old BV sm wedge. There are no options in terms of bounce and grind, they are given to the specific loft, which imo is like f grind from Vokey Design. I have 60°/8 and just decide to order another 56°/12 to replace my stock iron's 55°sw (RBZ Speedlite) Only con for me is the shaft which doesn't feel responsive to the strike especially in full shot compared to those better shaft like ns pro, dg s200 , but, guys, it's only under $50 😂.

Sm4 vokey? They’re on sm9 by now. That wedge is at least 5 yrs old. Maybe it only has 2 yrs of usage.

SM10 even, I got a set of them in my bag.

the answer lays in the ability of the user. a 10 handicap and below you can bet the Ping or an equal will be in his or her bag. a 20 and above wouldn't know the difference most likely
@electricalstuff259Күн бұрын
How do you know a 20 handicap isn't off 20 because they struggle off the tee and 3 putt every hole?

I live on the coast and play in wet conditions all the time. Premium is worth it to me. Thanks

I wonder how an old Ping wedge would perform?
@geoffcohen613Күн бұрын
Something old, something new, Something borrowed its up to you how they perform
@howardchen3456Күн бұрын
He should compare a worn wedge with a new version of the worn one.

You got something wrong mate. 2 years old is not old. It's nearly new. My irons must be ancient according to your timescales (Callaway Bigbertha Fusion) 😅 Not watching the video past 2 mins.

but all clubs have different grooves mate? how can it be actuall fair to judge them against eacother?
@mcfisherclanКүн бұрын
Sorry had to neg. This could have been good, even with the difference in groove tech being used. But judging by distance from hole :( then not showing the actual shot data only the average :( this is completely bad data and no one should be using this information. Bad show mate. Your channel is growing and I have started watching because i wanted and Ozzie to get a go. But that was bad really bad.
