The surprising truth about INTJ friends

INTJ, had one best friend over 25 years. Saw him 2-3 days a week, did movies, did dinner, called him every day. He was older than me so he became like my dad. He died in 2021. Now i'm mostly alone, I don't have the energy to make new friends.

Uh... you sure about #7? It took me 27 years to remember my sister's birthday. I made great use of a calendar in college to keep me on track, but I don't really use one any more. And I don't connect birthdays and special days with numerical dates very well. I guess I kind of don't care is the best way to put it? Not that I don't care about my friends, but I don't care about conventional celebrations all that much. I'm also not all that into memorizing street names, and navigate largely by landmarks. Dates and street names are arbitrary. I prefer things that are physically there.

@@heavensarmiesmarc LOL. Fair enough. And I'm not saying no INTJs remember these things. I just sincerely question whether this is an INTJ trait. Sounds more like an ISTJ thing since they get wrapped up in details and complain that we speak more generally. I remember whole plots to stories and whole swathes of interconnected events of history. They're all just cause and effect patterns. But while I can remember some significant years, I don't remember all of the years off the top of my head, much less the specific days, for example. The precise days are not as important as what happened and the order of events, you know?

Yeah, I'm the same way. I care little about my own birthday, so I very much tend to not pay attention to other people's birthdays. I do remember very strange things about people, though.

Same here. I don't like details like this. My wedding and birthday date are barely in my radar even when my infp wife tell me.

Nah, I am INTJ that I forget everything, Names, Dates, Day, And I didn't Have a calendar. And also I forgot to renew my licenses until 2 years had passed. 😂😂

Yeah, having the Sensory (Se) preference last is really rough, so I tend to disagree with remembering and connecting the dots on birthdays or holidays in general. However, I do try to covertly gather information on the people I care about, so that if I am out and about and see something unique I think they would like, I can buy it and stow it away for such a special occasion. Then again, I get super excited about finding or making something cool for a friend, and I usually can't wait until an obligatory holiday to give it to them.
