I felt what you said towards the end, having the fear of “wasting my time and not achieving something.” But I realized a bit before that I was too harsh on myself and wanted to have that feel of achievement and make everyone proud but I was just digging a deeper hole for myself. It stopped me from finding myself and made me an over thinker that thought if I make this goal then I’ll finally “be happy.” But I was wrong, Happiness does not correlate with materialistic things or medals that show what I have done. But happiness is just living life in the moment and thinking every second I’m on this Earth, I’m grateful. And wherever life will take me, I will go, with goals or no goals. I’ll just live happily in the moment :).

I'm happy that you're pursuing what you love and want to do with your life, but as someone who does want you to see you succeed, don't throw the idea of college away completely, please. There are majors for everyone, regardless of interest. If you do end up going back to college in the fall, don't take it as a failure. There are still a lot of opportunities to be had in college, and many more open up after graduation (including ones in the entertainment/production/film industry). Education gained is never wasted! God, I sound like an Asian parent.... Anyway, love u, Dustin! Hope it works out!

As someone who LOVE art doing art college was a nightmare and it almost made me lose my passion for art and even hate it..even if someone loved specific things like biology,math,music,art there we can’t be sure that they will succeed in it or even love it.As someone who tried Art college,engineering,business,Faculty of agriculture,biotechnology and psychological (i tried so hard to make college work) i did not like or succeeded in any of it bc i hated the college itself,it was so hard physically and mentally.IT WAS DRAINING…college was not for me (maybe one day i will try again bc it never too late to do what u want) so what i wanted to say that I disagree with the “there is a major to everyone” but i get ur other points!! I shifted my course this semester because I felt I couldn't continue with the premed course that I chose and I can't handle the stress anymore. I felt disappointed of myself because I know having a med background has a privilege or I didn't study enough or gave my best so that I can pass. In general, having a "title" have its advantages and society may give you more attention and what not. But my friend told me to choose my happiness and my success won't be defined by numbers, titles and all that shitty labeling, society wants us think. To all the people out there, I do hope that we can achieve what we want to achieve in life. We can do this✊💕

As a junior in college, you should be going to college and majoring in something you enjoy. Don't just go and major in something to appease your parents, go because you want to achieve something and enjoy learning from a major you want to take on. Also as someone that's going to school for video game design, literally the world is run by artists, we wouldn't have literally anything without them so please pursue art or whichever fine arts program you want to do. Even if your parents are paying for your college tuition (or if you are on your own) it's YOUR life, not your parents and you should be able to make the most out of it and have fun while doing it! SO GO BE AN ARTIST PLEASE!!!

in almost every area of the arts there are more “lucrative” things to go into (graphic design -> advertisement) (digital art -> animation) (fine arts -> museum business) (film/acting -> the industry is huge for this one!!) so don’t worry because there are still many ways to make money that still allow you to input your own art form. you got this :)

i'm 23 and i had a very similar journey but i took 3yrs off. i did so many new things and met so many ppl it was so crazy and exciting. i live in NY btw and I was out everyday doing photoshoots, booking studio time, going to art events. but in your 20's you start panic about things like money and i kinda went backwards. and well now i'm back in school trying to figure out how to get back to that place i was 3yrs ago and somehow have it all. MY ADVICE IS SURROUND YOURSELF W/ LIKE MINDED PPL AND MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY

I feel you on the college thing I am debating actually quitting all together because I realized that I only made that decision to make others happy and not myself, yet I convinced myself that I was happy. I don’t think college is the only route someone can take in life to get where they want but it’s so forced and pressured on everyone that it’s hard to see the other possibilities out there. I want to do things differently even if that path hasn’t been paved yet. I can be the one to pave it and maybe someday that can help guide someone else to achieve their dreams because they know that if someone else can do it so can they.

I believe the locks on the post office collection boxes are intentional to prevent them from overflowing! At that point (if the post office is open) I just ask the clerk if there's another drop-off location. Otherwise, if your packages are small enough they can go into the blue boxes you find around town!

You are like somewhat the opposite of what I am and what I do in the sense that you have somewhat of a routine and get stressed where as I just feel like a blob that does nothing and just eats, sleeps everyday which I guess is my “routine” and get stressed that I can’t do anything and am not good enough at anything. But I guess that is what it is, you don’t have to be the best; just try to do YOUR best and if it doesn’t work out oh well as long as you know that you can get back up and try later but still motivate yourself without letting your ambitions take total control over your life since it may not work out and that’s ok.

Yes college is a life decision and a stressful and anxiety attack that not everyone can manage to go or get it. Gap semester are fine, especially since most classes are online now because of Covid. It is a horrible time to be in college right!!! Just remember when you do go back to school you might find a class that you like, that was a requirement. College can be a time a to find a career path. You don’t have to known at all what you want to do, but just realizing what weaknesses and strengths is a good started. If you change your major a couple of time it completely normal. Just take baby steps. I sound old but this is coming for personal experience.
