back with another chatty video where i talk for just a littleeeee too long. just imagine this is a face time call, except u can't respond lol actually scratch that, pretend it's a podcast. just a disclaimer!! i'm not the most confident person in the world! BUT i have grown a lot this past year, so i just wanted to share my thoughts. i have to admit my topics are a bit of a mess because there are so many different sides when it comes to confidence (body image, internal self-love, socially, etc.), so i tried my best to cover as many aspects as i could. i talked about my history and relationship with confidence, experiences on how i grew my confidence, advice, etc.! there was way more i could've went on about so maybe i'll do a part two with a similar topic if u guys want. as i'm writing this it's 11:30pm on a sunday. this week has been a bit off cuz i fell behind in editing, so i've just been doing that for the past 3 days straight. gonna try to take tomorrow slow and get back into my usual routine of things. maybe i'll do some self-care and finally take myself on a date to go paint a plate baha
lots of love,
dustin

“loneliness means you’re in desperate need for yourself”..i think this applies if the loneliness comes from exactly what you meant; looking for someone to heal you, even tho loving yourself is the only thing that truly can. i hope you all the best on your journey, if i have made it, you can too you can only meet people as deeply as you’ve met yourself & you can only love people as truly as you love yourself:)

bruh if u get into a romantic relationship w/ sb while still hating on yourself,, you'll literally end up unintentionally self sabotaging it bcs the unresolved hate would just get in the way of ur (and ur partner's) personal growth in the relationship,, which is inevitable if u wanna keep it going in the right direction \\ hope this made any sense, talking from a personal experience tho, wish u the best and good luck

A method I use to be a confident lil' goober is to remind myself that literally no one is thinking about me, they're too busy thinking about what others think of them. Realising this can make you snap out of this hive mind mentally of insecurity and be your best you!
@factsoverfelix

I love these types of videos, they're so relatable and it's really fun to listen to you talk about your growth. Also, kind of irrelevant, but something that has helped me be more confident is watching animated movies or tv shows, whether it be Avatar: The Last Airbender or a studio Ghibli film. It's kind of weird, but I used to compare my looks to actors on tv, and it would contribute to decreasing my self-esteem. But when it came to animated characters, I instinctively didn't compare myself to them because their faces and bodies weren't real. Seeing characters like Sokka, a non-bender amongst his extremely powerful bender friends, be one of the most intelligent and confident characters on the show was inspiring to me (he's the proof that fake it 'till you make it works). Not only that, there's Hinata being confident and working hard despite his disadvantage due to his height in Haikyuu. Even Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle inspired me, because despite being a cursed physically weak old woman, she ultimately played a huge part in ending a war and gained her youth back. When I was young, I would root for these characters instead of comparing myself to them, so now, I've applied that to people outside of animations (live-action characters or even real people around me). So yeah, that was my rant about how much I love animated stuff and how it's helped build my confidence. Love your videos Dustin... k bye

I’m going to be taking therapy, after having depression and anxiety for over 6 years almost 7. Truly it never impacted me but now I realized it does. There is a boy I really like and he also likes me, he lives 6 hours away T.T, but i told him before I get in another relationship, I want to be better, mentally and physically. I don’t really care about my body like I like it it’s okay, but I think I should at least lose 20 lbs to be closer to the average weight. I told him I truly need to take care of myself so I don’t become toxic in the relationship. I never was but bc I’m a bit self conscious, I tend to get jealous. I’ve been used and played all of 2020 which hit my depression hard bc only dude were after my body, not me. It hurts but I let them use me and I acknowledge that now and I’m gonna talk it out with my therapist. I start therapy in two days and my best friend was sooo happy I was going to get help and so is she. She wrote a paragraph to the dude who likes me and I like him back about how she wants me to start seeing myself has she sees me. And it warmed my heart bc she’s truly one of my only friends that I trust everything with. She’s been my BFF for 6 years so she’s seen how I’ve been. The dude who likes me acknowledged I’m getting help and said he’ll be waiting for me, since I’m disconnecting from most of my social life, and he wishes me luck.

I know "pretty privilage" actually means what is considered "attractive" in society at this moment and that is white, european, etc. features, but it still sounded so absurd to me when (and even if you might have a thing where you put off compliments, I mean it) it comes out of a stunningly beautiful person. Like, I truly think you are really beautiful, you're just not white. That's it. Doesn't take away or give any beauty. It is just what is. And you are gorgeous and your features are so elegant and I wish you could see what I see

Right? Whenever I see someone on the internet who’s confident about their eccentricities and not afraid to fully be themselves, you always see comments like “you were homeschooled, weren’t you?” Like it’s a bad thing that they don’t tone themselves down because they weren’t constantly shamed any time they tried to be themselves. I hate that mentality. Everyone should have the room to discover who they are. Also, high school you would be proud of how far you’ve come! 💜

Ok I’m genuinely shocked how we went through the same phases at the same time....everything you were saying resonated 100% with me. I made so much progress in the summer with body confidence after 2 years of eating disorder recovery. I was doing better but then I also got love obsessed and I kept thinking about how no one could possibly find me attractive or like my personality. I was just lonely and all my friends were busy or in a completely different state across the country for college. College stress didn’t help either. But after the semester ended, I started spending time alone again and tried to appreciate the alone time I had to just think and paint and dance in my room in the dark. For some reason I started getting some of my confidence back. Wearing actual outfits besides sweatpants and tshirts, eating healthier, exercising, and just doing whatever made me feel good helped SO SO MUCH. Everything you were saying about “faking it till you make it” and just “putting in more effort” is so true and are things that my therapist has been telling me to do for the past 1-2 years. Don’t know why I never took it seriously and tried it out but it definitely works. Just takes some time and there are some bumps in the road. But everything sort of just works out in the end. Hope this year is amazing for you and for everyone else :)

i definitely do the 'walk with confidence' and it makes me feel better, but on the other hand there are days where i can't stop thinking that people are looking at me and just that brings me into a bad place in my head. idk how can i be so opposite, one day confident af and the other anxious that people will look at me.
