Fun fact: You aren't supposed to feed ducks bread. The bread soaks up water and the water makes it heavier/more filling and causes them to falsely think they're full. More weight also makes it harder fot them to swim,also making it harder for them to fly or evade predators. Plus, the bread is hard for them to digest and provides little nutrients eventually causing them to be under weight and malnourished.
@Catrialle

Awesome video like always 😄 Just a tip, try bringing cracked corn for the little duck friends next time instead of bread. It's common for people to feed them bread, but it isn't really the best for ducks. It has nearly zero nutritional value to ducks, and when they don't eat it, it just rots, and gets nasty along the bank. Cracked corn is great for them, and you can find a 50lb bag of it at Tractor Supply for ~$12. I have an old Foldgers tub that I fill with the cracked corn, and I leave it in my truck for whenever I want to make a pit stop on my way home to feed the ducks. There is a pond in my small town, and they love having visitors come to give them some attention haha.

My Muscovy ducks ( the same breed of duck in the vid) love to eat peas,corn and mealworms. Mealworm are very nutritious and good for ducks and are also very tasty according to them! They are a bit pricey but they are a brilliant treat or snack for ducks. 😊
@OnlineJeeper
@OnlineJeeper 3 ай бұрын
@@Wispy-The-Therian-Girl Oh definitely! I sometimes use mealworms as snacks for my chickens, and they go crazy for them! I usually use cracked corn for the ducks in my town pond because I go twice a week to feed them, and that can certainly get pricey to give out all that food, but a 50lbs back of cracked corn is only $12 in my area. I'd leave the "delicious" mealworms for my sweet little chickens just because they're my buddies there at home 😊

It doesn't kill them like that. It just fills their stomachs and keeps them from eating the food they should eat, which leads to malnutrition.

A little bit of bread is totally fine, and isn't going to do anything. The issues arise from ducks being fed bread on a daily basis. It has little nutritional value and can fill their stomach, leading to malnutrition.

Aren’t you not supposed to feed ducks bread? Because I’m pretty sure they can’t process it in there Stomach. So it just gets stuck there.
@crazydragy4233

Yes they can process it. White bread basically melts in the mouth. Do you think they don't have stomach acid or something? It's just that you're basically feeding wild animals the equivalent of cake, not food

Please don't feed ducks bread. They will get sick from eating it because their bodies cannot digest it like other birds can. I know muscovies are not really classified as ducks but treat them as if they were.

They made sourdough bread on Monday, and threw it out Wednesday... Or rather, they sold it at a discount for people wanting to feed it to the ducks, and then, prob'ly at the end of the day, finally, they threw it all out. I-I don't recall. I do remember a man who would bring his son to the bakery every Wednesday, and... then go feed the ducks. He would buy all of the sourdough bread. Of course, y'know, you're not supposed to feed the ducks sourdough bread at all. It swells up in their stomach, and then they all die. At, uh, at least... at least, that's what I've heard. Y'know, I-I never saw any ducks die myself, but I did notice a substantial decrease in the duck population over the course of a few years. I just never thought to stop the man and tell him that he was killing the ducks by feeding them sourdough bread! And if you want my opinion on the matter-heh, and I told Orville this as well-if you wanna feed ducks, or birds of any kind, for that matter, it's best to buy seed. I mean, when you think about it, breads of any sort don't occur in nature. They don't grow on trees o-or spring up from the bushes. I don't think birds know what to do with bread.
