As an ex high school euphonium player (I’m 25 now so it’s been a while) this brought a literal tear to my eye 😭 I miss playing

You can buy a used euphonium for cheap. If it's that emotional for you, it's probably something important to who you are.

I played the euphonium from the age of 10 till my twenties, when for financial reasons I sold my beloved euph - listening to you play has made me realise what a hole it left in my life… Lyndon Baglin was without doubt my favourite, and I always listened to the Child’s brothers and Mead (David Child’s was just coming to the fore when I left uni) - you are right up there and an amazing exponent of a beautiful instrument.

a bit random but I'm 16 now and I started playing euphonium when I was 8, but i stopped when I was 14 years old. I don't think I've ever loved my euphonium the amount it deserved. I kinda feel bad that I stopped playing, but now I am learning to admire instruments more and I know that one day I'll be ready to pick it up again. Thank you for making me love music again.

It's not just the sound alone that makes the music but if you have the brass of any instrument from soprano to tuba If you have the ability to make the brass sing lyrically like the human voice can play this art of playing I hear in this rendition of the swan and that's not just the vibrato but the soul of making your brass sing....bravo player

Beautiful playing -- I enjoy your videos, which inspired me to buy a euphonium and switch from trumpet. By the way, I downloaded the sheet music for this piece, but it's written in a different key (C) rather than F, as shown and played here, and I prefer the sound in the higher register. Please advise -- and thank you!

Beautiful playing, with lovely tone and excellent vibrato. My question is why do you play G with third valve instead of one and two, and why do you play ledger line E with one and three? Is it something particular to this horn or do you always do this?

It varies from horn to horn, but it's always either intonation, centering or finger convenience. In this case the intonation :)

I just graduated high school and I’d like to continue to play the euphonium, but the community college I’m going to doesn’t have a band program and in order to play in this other band I would need to have my own instrument. Do you know of any relatively inexpensive, but decent sounding euphoniums that you’d recommend to those with a low budget and a desire to continue playing?

Hey, I was originally a trombone player, but I'm switching to euphonium for high school. How do I get a confident and beautiful tone like you?
@Matonizz3 жыл бұрын
It takes time, but focus on strengthening your facial muscles and ability to control aperture & tension through exercises like freebuzzing and lip bending, also, work on developing inhale capacity and control through breathing exercises. Lastly, work on slurs and scale patterns to develop an ability to control airspeed going from high to low. Check some of my educational videos for more specific examples and exercises :)
