But he didn't write this one. "Brandy", later called "Mandy", is a song written by Scott English and Richard Kerr. For Manilow's recording the title changed from "Brandy" to "Mandy" to avoid confusion with Looking Glass's "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)".

Barry is a LEGEND. Please, more Barry! Barry wrote and sang music and wrote and sang commercial jingles as well. Band-aid bandages, McDonalds, State Farm ( like a good neighbor...) those are only a few, but Some are still used. Barry was a mainstay on the radio and variety shows in the mid to late 70's, we had his jingles through the 80's and then he went Vegas. Anyway, GREAT music! If you want to hear a great "story song" Barry's "Copa Cabana" is at the top of the list.

Loved Barry Manilow's music back in the 70's-80's even though some people didn't consider it cool. Barry is a great singer songwriter & his music career spans nearly 7 decades. My favorite song by him is "Weekend In New England". But he had so many great songs such as "Could It Be Magic", "I Write The Songs", "Can't Smile Without You", "Copacabana (At The Copa)", "Bandstand Boogie", "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again", "Ready To Take A Chance Again", "Even Now", It's A Miracle" etc.

OMGOSH!!! Barry Manilow could write and sing a love song like no one else. He started out writing jingles for some of the most iconic commercials of the early 70's. Jingles that people still remember for BIG companies, like CocaCola, Pepsi, McDonald's..in fact he even wrote a song including parts is his best known jingles that he would sing in his concerts. "Looks Like We Made It", "Could It Be Magic", "Even Now", "I Write the Songs" and of course, "Copacabana" are some of my favorite Barry Manilow songs. I just love Barry Manilow's voice, so did my late husband. Barry was actually a great jingle writer for different commercials, he started in 1971, he wrote for: State Farm, Band-Aid, Stridex, KFC, Pepsi and McDonald's. I remember watching him on a TV special and telling the audience, of his time as a jingle writer then he demonstrated a few, that's how I found out. I always liked "Mandy", but then there's also, "This One's For You", "Looks Like We Made It" and "Daybreak". This was so great, you guys, thanks!

So Barry Manilow is superlative. There are a lot of people who wrote him off because of the whole "soft rock closed quote division that was kind of popular to be cool at the time. When I was a child I didn't care. I adore Barry Manilow to this very adult day in my life. He has beautiful beautiful songs that are funny and loving and sad and everything between. Barry Manilow was on pace to be a Great back up musician for Bet Midler; he would have been an Outstanding Studio Musician; But within him was the Pulse of a Super Star! When he was finally about to spread his wings the songs that he gave the World shook what was the norm for the industry; Why? Because it wasn't what others were doing, it carried so much feeling and sensitivity that it would draw the listener in... You just couldn't help but remember situations that you were in like the man in these songs... Only a Hand full of artist do that for me...
