@@issietailormade4650 Completely agree. Recently watched the prom episode and he definitely had feelings for her. He just didn't see how he fit into her life; he felt very much stuck in his way of life (and most of the time, he was very content with it)

I LOVE that Shai addressed the fact that it's been said, on the Drama Queens podcast, that they felt like they had to compete with The OC in terms of sexy scenes and all of that. Personally, I've always thought OTH was a lot more sexual in many ways and even more "explicit" at some points... So I wonder if there really was a competition or if the producers from OTH were just using that as an excuse to sexualize those teenage characters a bit more...

💯! She also has an obsession with trying to fix "troubled" guys. She ignores the opinions from the people she should be trusting. The fact that she never believed Ryan when he warned her about Oliver...imo Marissa broke that relationship from then on. That why I love Taylor & Ryan together. Taylor isn't afraid to be assertive, call him out on his bs, and communicate with him even if he won't communicate back.

You guys forget she was 17 years old, prompt to make mistakes and lack of communication with surroundings think about it, if youre younger you are not self aware and sometimes dont understsnd the hind sight of your actions. She just needed some guidance but there wasnt. Girls like to be adventurous and somewhat experimemting on that age

I hate how Ryan dealt with Marissa's trauma. Marissa's story is the story of someone dealing with massive trauma and depression. She tried to rise out of it with love, but kept sinking and sinking. The emotional reasonance of her story is visceral and real.

the solution to marissa's problem: open the relationship. I think she's very open minded about relationship dynamics and she would perform great having or being able to have connections others than ryan. of course, she should be able to talk to ryan, but it's not what's happening... and she is able to talk do johnny and in a certain way find healing from what's happened. And ryan is the person who put her in that situation, he was the one that had to go and be the macho and fight trey. its understandable, I'm in for trey's revenge. But his actions did this to her. Also: she is recovering from alcohol abuse. she being able to be sober this whole time, after everything... such a stress...

i wouldn't say The OC felt like they were trying too much to be sexy, but the temperature difference between OC and NC where OTH is filmed, it just left more opportunity for the OC to dress in beachwear? Also, we have to remember that the creator of OTH has been outed as abusive. The rapport that Josh has with everyone suggests that there was not that environment with trying to make the show appealing on a superficial level.

The OC was definitely known for being a "sexy" show. To my mind sexy doesn't just mean explicit sex scenes all the time, it means the characters are all sexy, they're always in bikinis and there's also making out at minimum in almost every episode. Rachel saying Marissa was the sexy one is also funny, since Summer was meant to be the sexier one IMO. But even the parents were all sexy.
