So glad I watched this video. I think I've been doing the lean turn completely wrong. Leaning the way I wanted to go, that makes sense why I wasn't finding it very efficient. I will have to go back out and try it the other way now. Thanks!

I have an idea - make the gunwales, as well as the bracing forward and aft of the paddler, with a coaming, so a neoprene or ripstop nylon deck can be installed. This would offer some awesome protection for those who use the boat in open water. I’m a kayaker who canoes a bit, but I want to become a canoeist who used to kayak a bit - and having a removable, but very sturdy, deck is hugely appealing. What do you think Bill?
