With new American President coming into office the odds of having news that completely overwhelms all other news articles for the largest market is likely too high for Nintendo to risk. If they've gone that long into the month, they may as well sit on it another week for the safer news period of 27th-31st.

It will be revealed in February in place of the Feb direct. Nintendo staff are on holiday, a reveal like this takes a lot of preparation. We have a January game (DK) and a March game (XCX) nothing is scheduled for February - probably for a reason.

But at the same time Pokémon company should wait it out until the next system is announced to announce a version of these Pokémon games to the next gen system like have a legends ZA for switch 1 and one specifically to take advantage of the current hardware on switch 2.

I also don’t get why you think it’ll come in March bc Nintendo said in their first quarterly meeting of the 2024 fy that there’d be no new hardware released, so they can’t release it in March or they would’ve just flat out lied to investors

Target shelves were nearly empty of Switch games today. I asked if they are waiting on restock from Christmas sales, and was told they are no longer ordering games outside of their top sellers.. I take that as they know something to be coming soon. Could be wrong though.

I have zero idea at this point. Given the last time the rumors were heavily pointing to a time frame, we got literally nothing. Like, I know I considered it very likely back in September, but still had my doubts. So I’m kinda expecting a repeat and we get nothing this week. But it could totally happen for all I know. I’m gonna err on the side of caution, however, and say later January rather than early January. And yeah, we have to keep a possible Switch 1 Direct in the discussion for all of this, since Brazil was right about the presentations in August. As for people telling you to just wait, I think there’s just a huge fatigue over channels that milk the topic dry. Since there’s plenty of channels that cover news like, for a job and ALL they’ve posted for months is Switch 2 this, Switch 2 that. Like, you’re doing it for the right reason- it’s just fun to you. But for plenty of other people, they just want to be the ones to cover the big news stuff (and have zero patience).

The investors meeting and first general direct of the year are a month away. I really can't see Nintendo skipping another Feb General so that requires Switch 2 to be revealed by then.

I no longer have any particular objections against Nintendo revealing the system now, other than the need to be contrarian. That being said, early indicators suggest last quarter sales were good enough to Nintendo that they aren't going to need to panic and rush this new system. Also... how credible can a leaker be if they don't know if Nintendo is unveiling the next generation console or a new video about an already announced last gen port.... there's a bit of difference! My expectations/predictions are that we get an announcement this week, but its a twitter reveal for whatever the test program is suppose to be and it releases in late Feb. We get a Direct in February with that infamous little note about no successor being in it. Nintendo doesn't say much about the Switch 2 at the investors meeting, but they do make a preemptive statement with some basic details to shut down speculation until they're ready. Something similar to their statement last year like, " This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will release the successor to Nintendo Switch within the next fiscal year. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this April regarding the Nintendo Switch successor's launch details and software lineup."

@SXZ-dev I think there would be a lot of third party support for the game, even if Nintendo doesn’t release enough first party games for it there will be plenty of third party games on it that will likely not be on the regular switch 1.

@ actually a lot of people do, mainly because of the portability factor, the portability factor is a big reason people actually go about buying a Nintendo switch, a console as powerful as a ps4 or ps4 pro that can handle alot of the biggest games on portable mode is enough of a reason to own a switch. The first party games are obviously more important but third party games can be equally just as important depending on the type of game that is being announced/released for the system, for example a game like persona 3 reload and elden ring would be a huge reason to buy the switch 2 simply for the portability factor alone, having these games play on a smaller screen and being able to take it everywhere you go is actually good. Both things combined ps4 pro level hardware and portability alongside the biggest hugest third party games that people actually want on switch is enough of a reason to buy the switch 2, I can name plenty of the biggest major third party games that I want to play on the switch but cannot due to the limited specs of the current hardware. Obviously I do want first party games but third party games can suffice if they are bigger major third party titles or JRPG’s.

I agree with you though, once they showcase the hardware, they will definitely showcase software running on it likely with an emphasis on resolution and frame rates, loading times etc. Nintendo will really want to hit the market with a bang.
