1. When Nintendo came out in 1984 there was ONLY 5 billion people on the planet, today we are over 8 billion, so it is very easy to grab a few extra millions of people years later because of population growth. 2.. The switch is a great idea, play at home or on the go. This combines every Nintendo console from all generations into a single package, and it works great. Nintendo/SNES/N64 had Gameboy as their handheld during this gaming era Gamecube/Wii/Wii U had DS/3DS as their handheld during this gaming era Now we got 1 console from Nintendo this era and that's the Switch Which is their main focus, and we get more content now on a single console rather than having games for multiple consoles and that is why switch library is insane since day 1. Nintendo puts out a game, there is no day 1 patch to fix anything Sony and Xbox your day 1 patch be like 5 gbs. Nintendo is doing things right, not to mention they drop exclusives every 3-6 months.

As somebody who doesn’t follow PlayStation as closely (outside of their exclusives every once in a while) I don’t really know the reception compared to the Switch (the only console of the 3 I currently own) and everything I hear from Xbox online (and it’s obvious state of not doing so well).

I liked the concept of the Wii U but Nintendo definitely deserved the backlash for it. The Wii U represents where Nintendo was a bit too stubborn and arrogant when it comes hardware specs. The Switch is where they humbled themselves but at the same time still get their 'philosophy' across. Commercially, the PS5 is a totally different SKU but logistically its more so a PS4pro+. Same for Xbox Series( and mind you they also had a Xbox one X before the series). Consider that most games still play on last gen and not only that, the demograhpic is also more tech aware to see what is worth their time and money. Most PS5 owners hardly play 1st party games, they play COD, GTAV or any other sportsgame not much different than PS4 era. Dragonball Sparking Zero that actually caters to the PS2 era of gaming which had some crossover with PS3 as in demographics similar to the Switch overal, but the Switch has this with handheld gaming. But looking back yeah i think the Wii U deserved the hate, but at the same time it helped in the end when it comes to the Switch.

Right now, the Switch has outlasted the Fam-icom by a day, and it’s gonna last another couple months! On top of that, it’s currently sold 142M consoles(surely by today), which means it’s closing in on the DS! Once it out-sells the DS(surely it will), it’ll just have the PS2 to outsell. Those 2 are very close in sales, & this would make the Switch the bestselling console of all. Time.

I've heard a lot of takes on the internet. PS2 is overrated is something I've been hearing since the Dreamcast. Though I will still agree the PS2's early success was thanks to the DVD compatibility; I'd argue that the PS2 hit the ground running afterwards. Remember, the Xbox and GameCube had superior graphical chipsets; and the GameCube controller is one of the most sublime things in video games. But can we agree that the 6th Generation of consoles was just bangers all around even though the PS2 ran away with the gold medal to the next dimension?
