Hi Mike, I hope you are doing good. If you check, there is a comment underneath my previous one that reads "Hey, you've won a prize". I assume it is a scam, but nevertheless I decided to ask. Thanks!

That is a scam account. Please report it (I have too). To date, I have never done a giveaway, and if I ever did one, you would see me talk about it in a video. Thanks for the heads up - and scammers be gone!

Thank you so much for this or rather these sets of video explanations. They are super informative too a math nerd like me. I am subscribed and will continue watching. Charles from Atlanta Georgia.

Next you need to see TerpstraKeyboard, the customizable online version, and it's chord shape shift-ability, etc. I think it's from the 1970s and helps learn by distilling the key patterns in these ways. I did not connect the guitar to this. Though I noted the Autoharp retuned chromatically has some symmetries like this as well as the keyboard's chord patterns. In old days you just turned to a key. For example maybe way back before 12 note music greorion 5 note scales is another area to go from there. Oh terpstra is also adjustable for number of notes so it does double flats & sharps aka customizable for microtonal timings as well. My point is this is a good validation of what your saying. Keep spreading the color ideas. Modern Data visualization needs to be applied to music more.

It's also useful to ponder symmetries in tunings with a prime number of steps in contrast with highly-composite ones like 12. For instance, only 12 EDO will have exactly 6 tritones, 4 augmented chords, 3 diminished 7th chords, and 2 whole-tone scales (all from the factors of 12). A prime number, by definition, can't be evenly divided into any such subsets, so you end up drawing your lines of symmetry through a single note one end and between two notes on the other end. In many ways, it's not fundamentally different, but it does make you think about the symmetries a little more expansively.

Okay symmetry makes sense to me but it is interval that connects for me. I’m digging the translation to geometric forms but this forms haven’t helped me as much as the intervalic relationships so far

Mind Blown... Does Rhythm (mood) or BPM dictate what pattern is best?
@ernie52292 жыл бұрын
You asked the "bad" question. This guy's vids are all about abstract, almost spiritual, ways of looking at music. Despite tons of requests to demonstrate the application of his ideas, he never gives any. I would love to know the answer, too!
@mikegeorge3602 жыл бұрын
Good question. Really any pattern can go with any BPM. Pitch (melody, harmony) and rhythm interact and influence each other, but the patterns in pitch don’t dictate the patterns in rhythm, per se.
