I was hoping to see a video about the design of the boat, what features it had, dealing with all the electrical, water, population management, food management, and all the other things that come with the genius required to make such a project happen. I ended with a 20 minute brochure of a boat.

Agreed, there was SO much that I'd have loved to know about this monster that wasn't covered. Simon asked the writer to not make it sound like an ad.. and it felt very much like the writer basically copy pasted the entirety of Royal Caribbean's marketing material on this ship. After only discovering Megaprojects recently I've been absolutely addicted to it for the past few weeks, but this is so far below the quality of the rest of them. And it seemed like Simon was aware of that.. Still, the testicular shenanigans cracked me up.

Water isn’t loaded or unloaded. It’s generated from seawater by desalinating it via reverse osmosis. They run the equipment when they are well out to sea to make sure that they don’t get any water contaminated by human activities on shore.

@@godlugner5327 Once on the cruise, you can book a behind-the-scenes tour where they'll show you all the parts of the ship that aren't intended for passengers. You get to see the bridge, engine control room, kitchen, crew's quarters, recycling area and more. They also go over things like how much water is used, what happens to waste, and so much more. I believe they restock at various ports along the cruise route. It was fascinating.

Simon, going on a Carnival cruise is one of the best vacations I have ever experienced. I was only 14 when my grandmother took myself and my 15yr old cousin with her on a trip we booked together to Ensenada Mexico. It is one of my fondest memories. The sight of the spiraling stairways and detail put into designing the interior of the ship is breath taking and strikes you from the moment you first board. Its not only the incredible design of the ship that will leave you in awe, but the adventures you can partake in when you dock at port. If you ever have the opportunity, you should absolutly go! I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing adventure and out of the ordinary experience.

I've been on the Allure of the Seas. It was gargantuan. Elevators like in a skyscraper, f'ing trees, the "food court deck" was bigger than the food court at a shopping mall lol. It was an experience, but probably not one I would repeat >_>

To answer your question: YES, cruise ships do generally have a brig. Normally a sparsely furnished room close to the security office, that can be locked securely from the outside. This is usually used for crew or passengers who can't safely be contained in their own cabin, and under normal circumstances the person concerned would be removed from the ship and handed over to authorities next time the ship docks. No idea if they have a 'First Class' brig similar to a 5* hotel room, and a 3rd class similar to the 'Hanoi Hilton'.

Going out to the balcony of my stateroom once the sun was gone and just staring out. Staring at pitch blackness of the the nightly ocean and the stars in the sky. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I just cannot get it out of my head. The wind blowing past made the whole experience ever more memorable. I thought this might be more about the technology and engineering behind building such a large ship rather than poking fun at cruising. I didn’t even make it as far as the part about why you’d need special clippers. When I was a teenager we went on a cruise around the med. we got to see lots of different places over two weeks while staying at the same ‘hotel’ sailing from port to port. There are a wide variety of cruises to choose from and many are aimed at young people, families, etc. For some places they are the most practical way to go on a trip - the Antarctic, Alaska, etc. Anyway, I’ve had my Wahl clippers for many years and I really like them.

In lieu of money we have sent you a pair of lockpicks and a spade baked inside a cake, as requested, though we will be contacting the authorities out of concern for your health and safety. If nothing else "he makes me read them for new ideas" was an odd reason for requesting our correspondence take place in the KZbin comments, this combined with your strange culinary requests have compelled us to take action. Most of her sisters didnt make it and were thos famous ships being scrapped in Turkey. I perosnally love ships and maritime history so I had a blast. I would honestly recommend everyone try it once.

Marvelous video. Different from many of Simon's other videos, which have all been wonderful. I, as some others, was expecting technological data marvels from this video. But this was really fun. Even the ad was a blast. Or, perhaps, especially the ad was a blast. A week on this monster would drive many folks crazy (myself included). Others would love it, of course. However, sailing on a ship with the initials SoS seems risky, no matter the technology. Thank you for the fun video, Simon. Brilliant. Keep them coming.

The food on the Oasis class ships is actually really good. We did a few of the higher end specialty dinners and I have to say the regular dining rooms were almost as good. The drinks on the other hand are terrible. You pay for the "Unlimited Package" only to find out that it's almost impossible to get a drink and the bars seem to close earlier and earlier every time we go. Also, the theater changes what show they're doing every so many months, etc.

My cousin, her husband, her daughter and her mum went on a Royal Caribbean cruise onboard the Harmony Of The Seas in 2017. They took a 7 day cruise around Northern Europe and said that the ship was so big that they didn’t see everything on board. I saw it when I dropped them off and picked up from Southampton.
