Basically a fairly straightforward sound layering tool. But I can imagine the simplicity of the idea behind it making it very inviting to start experimenting with it.

Yup exactly that, with some great sound sources and fairly intuitive controls to tweak the sound

Can you upload your own samples into it?

I don't think you can, at least I haven't seen an option to. All of the sound sources are multi-sampled to the highest quality so it wouldn't really be a case of just loading a one shot into it even if it did have the ability.
