The fact that this man got out of prison, made a meaningful life for himself and was put back in prison after being found not guilty, is absolutely disgusting. its politics and now, protocol. If you look at 30:04 and going for a few mins, he uses some tricky language to describe and give justification for the board's lack of respect for the verdict as well as lack of evidence--'in some way he was connected"...well, you could say that about himself! It means nothing in itself. Was there any actual evidence Perry was involved in the theft or burglary? No, there was not. Even if some evidence had not made it into court that was relevant, it would have been likely the Board would be privy to it. I do think it was bad luck, though Perry really should have used better judgement in giving a ride to someone who could have been wanted or involved in significant criminal behavior (he knew him by sight from one of the programs he managed).

@bigpumpkin493 жыл бұрын
The set up is in the legal system itself. He was originally sentenced to life in prison, but did manage to earn parole. Generally, parole extends through the remainder of the suspended sentence. Which, in his case, was life unfortunately. The problem is the length of some of these parole/probation periods. That man was living and contributing to society for 11 years, without incident, before this happened. There's no logical reason for him to have still been on parole. However, that's one of the factors in the legal system set up and I think sometimes contributes to the high recidivism rates. Once you have a record, it's a lot harder for them to obtain some things ppl without records take for granted including housing.
@cecillyles26786 жыл бұрын
I have one question for the parole board, What good is it to do the right thing and turn your life around where you have the Mayor, the Sheriff and countless other people on your side if you the parole board can even when a man is found not guilty can take his freedom back away from him for no reason? I say no reason because clearly, you had no reason here! I can only come up with one reason, it is racially motivated! the actions of the parole board are the same as if a cop stops you and arrests you without any crime being done and convicts you and sends you to prison! that is exactly what is going on in this country right now with one exception, cops can murder you and get away with it!

This documentary is very biased. First of all, Donald was convicted of multiple felonies which gave him a life sentence. To be given the chance of parole despite his heinous crimes is purely a privilege and should not be taken for granted. Secondly, his story of the homeless man lacks corroborating evidence and none of the parole board members believes his story. These are the same parole board members who eventually gave him a third chance and paroled him so they are hardly out to get him. No one else saw the homeless man jump out of his car, including the state troopers who were apparently following him according to the parole member who actually reviewed the evidence. Secondly, he does not mention a word about any homeless man when arrested, even though it would explain the stolen goods and supposedly is what happened. He may have convinced a jury to not find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but remember that he is already sentenced to life in prison for prior crimes. He is only being paroled early because of society's willingness to believe that he can better himself. This is only a conditional release which can be revoked. As a prior criminal who has not served his full sentence, he must be held to a higher standard if paroled and he knows it. Remember that the parole board never convicted him of any crime, they simply revoked the parole base on the preponderance of the evidence. If you are found to have multiple stolen goods in your car and your story lacks corroborating evidence, you have most likely taken part in some criminal activity, if "only" receiving stolen goods. He should consider himself lucky. Now, why don't Al Jazeera make a documentary about the family who was raped and then burned to death in CT? Or even better, a documentary about the justice system in Qatar which practices Sharia law and is also Al Jazeera's financial backer. Just sayin'....

I think that the justice system is messed up all the way around. At the beginning of this video the narrator stated that they wanted to find out if justice is being served. I am not in the court houses, police departments or prison and I can see and hear that justice is served disproportionately. Innocent people are being imprisoned and murdered by police while criminals are out their paying the police to look the other way. People of color receive more time than Caucasians. This did not just start happening. I am 72 years old and I have been watching this injustice going on for years. Had it not been for cell phones and internet, we would only hear from people who have been through the system on what is going on. If it weren't for people from the Innocence project and other organzations like that, we would not know the truth. Now it is true that there are innocent people in prison. The fact that people do not want to be filmed tells me that they have something to hide. Why can't they film inside the rooms where they are going to decide if a person gets paroled? Why can't the people film a person get out of prison? What do they have to hide?
@cecillyles26786 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest problems I see with the so-called justice system is they judge everyone under the same umbrella! they don't take each case or person individually, I believe that is because of old fashion laziness, I mean if you take 10 people and 9 act in the same way but you treat all 10 the same way is that really fair to the one that is not the same? I have experienced this myself not in a criminal case but in a case where I was judged as being the same as everyone else and it wasn't right!

That guy at 42:00 surprised he was paroled based on those tough questions. But yeah 3500 a week I can get it. Wonder how he was as a dealer.

Did the police see this mysterious man that "jumped out of the car" before getting pulled over? Otherwise I call BS. Dude knows anything brought into his car is his responsibility, it could've been a brick coke, and he'd still responsible , unless maybe the mysterious passenger claimed it.

These people are disgusting. Based on their logic a man or woman can never change. Under the prison? You can be high risk on the first charge. People can change. How is it constitutional to give them that much power over another human being…. It’s not.
