Used to have really bad back pain and muscle spasms. Taekwondo really helped strengthen my back and improved my flexibility. The back pain also lead me to study Physiotherapy, which I'll be starting next year. Listen to your body.

Wow! What an inspiring lady! I look forward to earning my black belt at 77! As a bonus, the nice, patient, good looking teacher, is another good reason for seniors, to learn a martial art !!!

I took my first two classes last week. Kung Fu was killing me, well the 30 minutes of intense calisthenics, stretching, and only 15 minutes of kung fu instruction, I wanted to do some thing other than calisthenics. Ms. Soh is an inspiration for me! I am a few years younger than her, but when I walked into the dojang, the three instructors are all women black belts over 60. So far, I enjoy my training. It’s easy for me to practice at home, and I know that the aches in my knees and everywhere else are going to go away. Thank you for sharing this. Wonderful story! You truly are an inspiration to many of us that are Aging gracefully. ❤

You will surprise yourself. I started taekwon-do when I was 20 back in 1982. I trained for about 8 years getting to blue belt 4th kup. I didn't train for 8 years but resumed in 1998 as a white belt just about to turn 36. I was overweight and in poor health. I achieved 1st Dan in 2001, 2nd Dan in 2004 and 3rd Dan in 2007. I havn't graded since then due to various commitments but I still teach. I'll be 61 in August.

The ones in McDojos, yes since it makes lots of money fast. Real dojos MAKES you work for black belt. I’m only a blue belt after 3 years.

@@PhinTheShoto its hard to find quality
@PhinTheShoto2 жыл бұрын
@@mellonhead9568 I wholeheartedly agree. But they are out there if you look for them hard enough. Other countries shows far more legitimacy than that of McDojos in the US. Philippines and Australia (both of which I’ve studied Taekwondo in) has lots of quality instructors teaching for the sake of it. Some who I studied with are not even being paid because they genuinely want to see their students grow. It really matters as to where you live and how they prefer to train and how they can meet your own goals.

Belt color has little meaning at her age. It's really created for children. A retired mma fighter is no better.
