Movie was based on a lie. Full of NATO Propaganda. In reality they all fled Afghanistan like a bunch of rats. Bunch of goat herders defeated all the special forces of NATO.

Story flaws: 1. Paratroopers always jump off the plane in the cover of darkness - very early morning or at night to avoid detection . 2. Special forces always have redundant communication systems. 3. With their bad physical condition, it's impossible to scale a snow covered mountain. 4. The strategies of special forces are poor and unrealistic. The writer shd.have researched to make the story believable.

So much has changed since the 2011 movie. Gone were the days when small teams of soldiers were left on their own, e.g. Bravo-Two-Zero in Iraq. Now, special forces can be better supported by quieter helicopters, UAVs, smaller drones and other higher-tech surveillance. Generally, night ops are preferred. While the size of hostage rescue forces may be kept small to avoid detection by the enemies, much depends on the circumstances on the ground.
