The tallest tower on the Gold Coast is not the tallest in Australia, it has an antenna which extends its height, any tower can get an antenna on its roof, evening saying that Q1 is the tallest in Australia is a complete false claim and misleading. The tallest tower in Australia is in Melbourne... Q1 (tallest on Gold Coast): 245m to roof, 78 floors Australia 108 (tallest in Melbourne): 312.4m to roof, 101 floors You'll find Australia tallest and second tallest towers are in Melbourne... just like Melbourne has Australia's largest shopping centre at Chadstone.

Its a spire and not an antenna so Q1 is the tallest in Australia. Including the spire is the global standard despite what those from Melbourne say. The global building height rankings would be far different otherwise. Also without the spire the Q1 would be second tallest on the Gold Coast after Ocean tower. Any tower can have a spire and the ones in Melbourne decided against it. Buildings in Melbourne however did add extra height to each floor to extend their height. How is Eureka tower 30m taller then Brisbane skytower yet only has 1 extra floor.
