Shortly after the Fort Worth and Western Railroad restored Southern Pacific 2248 (Texas State Railroad 200) they were packing tourists and locals into the Tarantula Train. That was quite a treat for me as a kid and I'll never forget it. Fortunately, this birthday gift was captured on VHS. A meticulously restored set of coaches and the steam engine were the highlight of a few route options between the Trinity River Run, to Grapevine, back to the Stockyards and then back to the FWWR yard or eventually Grapevine. Stick around to the end; you might see someone you know.
The 2248 (GVRX 2248, aka Puffy), owned by the City of Grapevine after sale by FWWR in the early 2000s, hasn't run since the mid 2010s and is reportedly stuck in a lengthy restoration process.
