Recently got lucky with a great deal on the 105 used - I have been loving it so far this year. I'm new to kayaking so have limited experience with various boats, but I feel totally spoiled by this thing already. I don't feel like I'm too big for it (5'11'', 215 lbs), but it's still extremely manageable to throw into J-cradles on my small suv. It really feels like a sweet spot of big enough on the water but not too big off it. Sometimes I get the itch for something longer and faster, but I'd have a hard time sacrificing the portability. Good luck with the channel!

I don't know why but I am really excited for you and your new channel. It must be a kayak thing. I wish you success with yer KZbin channel! I like the looks of that seat, reminds me of an office chair. Forever they were an afterthought. Seats have come a long way but I think that some manufactures might be missing the boat (see what I did there?). Innovations need to broaden in the swivel department. On the larger SOT kayaks they all really need to swivel! Either that or stop putting storage hatches and rod holders BEHIND THE SEAT!

Ill get into more detail on the Nucanoe brand of kayaks. Most of the models they have are the 360 swivel seats and are very comfortable. I think that is where kayaks have come forward the most is in the seat dept. Thank you for watching and for the support Doc!

Discovered your channel today (and subscribed). I get emotional any time I see a KZbin video featuring the Wilderness Systems Tarpon. I've paddled/loved my Tarpon 100 for about 50 days a year in Canada for the last 13 amazing years, and adapted it for fishing more and more in my retirement years. I continue to cartop it inverted, and carry it to the water (over 70 locations) without ramps or carts, so its weight of 55lbs is to me its best feature by far. (That and the integrated rear tracks that sadly are missing on the 105.)

Thank you for subscribing! The Tarpon has been around for so long and will hopefully continue to be. Look forward to seeing your feedback in the future.

Its been a staple of the industry for years. They have made some improvements over the years but it has been fundamentally the same kayak for over a decade now. Thank you for watching my videos

@@thebeardedpaddler my sister and i are fairly new to kayaking , i made the mistake of getting a couple cheap ones, by the second time out we realized it , they where suppose to be fishing ones but there was little to no room for any thing and the plastic is weak in a lot of places and a few other issues like stripped bungy hook screws ect i did get them fixed but still not what we really wanted! so i upgraded to a couple better ones but didn't get them till the fall so we have not gotten to try them out yet!

How dry does the tarpon ride? And can you access the front hatch while you’re on the water?
@thebeardedpaddler
@thebeardedpaddler 2 ай бұрын
It's always going to depend on your personal stability. But the hatch is not meant to access from the water. It opens up from the very front of the kayak

Many of the coastal fishers used the Tarpon 160 back in the day. Great paddler and really handled the water very well offshore.

Do you know if the C-Tug R with Kiwi Wheels will fit inside the front hatch of a Tarpon 105 when disassembled?

The Tarpon 105 hatch is pretty small. You would be better off taking it back to your vehicle or storing it in the rear tankwell. Thanks for watching!

Depends on your personal balance. The seat is also pretty low. You can stand up fine but sitting back down can be tricky
